Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment this week said that it will be bundling the “Watchmen: The End is Nigh” video game for Sony's Playstation 3 console with the “Watchmen: Director’s Cut” on Blu-ray in a hybrid disc this July.
The jam-packed Blu-ray release will include the Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts I and II and the Watchmen: Director’s Cut on Blu-ray in a two-disc collectible set.
Additionally, “Watchmen: The End is Nigh” Parts I and II will be available for download over the Xbox Live Marketplace.
“Watchmen: The End is Nigh” Part I was released in March 2009 as a downloadable game for Xbox Live, the Playstation Network, and the PC.
Part I of the game, which was developed by Deadline Games and written by Len Wein, the comic’s original editor, received mostly dismal reviews (including my own) based on game play that was repetitive and offered little variety. The title features split-screen co-op multiplayer action in addition to a single-player mode.
The Xbox 360 managed to bring 188,000 sales in April, while the PS3 sold 124,000 units in the same period. The trailer for Part I of the video game can be seen below.
