It gives me great pleasure to be the first one to post here. Many thanks to DoomsdayClock for getting this board and this site underway.

So let's go to the forums and get the discussion rolling!

This is so cool! I'm new as well. I came over from www.comicbookmovie.com as the name Deadpool, and I was a moderator there as well. Nice to meet you all.

Yeah! There's been loads of new members, or lurkers signing up to post!
I just wish this site had a better google ranking...
It should be right up there, just under the official site and maybe the wikipedia article but, as you probably know, it's on the third page...

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Any idea on what to do about that?

Anyway, I've always been proud of how many people we have registered here. This month is truly a great time to be a Watchmen fan and I'm glad so many of us are here to share the excitement.

I don't know if DDC has already done them or not, but there's some things he can do here:

For just plain "watchmen" you're right, but that is a generic term so it's harder to place high for that. I've got great Google placement across the board for virtually ever other important keyword phrase. Try a more specific search and you'll see I'm at the very top for almost any keyword phrase you can think of, like...

watchmen movie
watchmen comic
watchmen film
watchmen movie photos
watchmen set photos
watchmen movie stills
watchmen movie scripts
watchmen david hayter
watchmen plot summary
watchmen wallpaper
watchmen merchandise
watchmen action figures

Whew..

And just to give you a breakdown. Yesterday, which was a big traffic day, here was my traffic breakdown for the main site:

Visits from Direct Traffic: 878 (39.27%)
Visits from Referring Sites: 731 (32.69%)
Visits from Search Engines: 619 (27.68%)

That's a pretty balanced breakdown right there.

It seems The Dark Knight and Comic Con hype have started to get people interested in Watchmen.

The direct traffic and search engine traffic to this site have spiked over the past few days. Here are some numbers...

On average, the site usually receives around 400 visits a day from search engine queries. On July 14th we received 620 visits, on the 15th we received 713 visits, and on the 16th we received 810 visits.

Our direct traffic climbed as well from an average of 500 visits per day to over 1050 visits on the 15th.

Even visits from referring sites have spiked form an average of 300 to over 600 visits on the 15th.

It all starts tomorrow (or whenever the trailer hits the net), doesn't it?
It's the moment people who haven't heard of the comic or film (i.e. the vast majority of people in the world forshame!) start getting interested.
If what we've heard is right, and the trailer is outstanding and intriguing, the hype for this is just going to grow and grow, the peak being just before the film is released. You're gonna get a hellava lot of hits!

And it's barely going down!
As we speak its 49 - half of which are guests.
Who knows, maybe it'll get higher?
DDC, regardless of how little the forum ads bring in in terms of revenue, you've got to have earned something from all this traffic, right? :D

Edit: 54 now!
Edit: 58! I don't think it'll ever reach this high again...

Big traffic spike yesterday. Here are the details...

4,540 visits from 3,125 visitors and a total of 14,938 page views.

The 4,540 visits broke down to 1,732 (38.15%) from search engines, 1,630 (35.90%) from direct traffic and 1,165 (25.66%) from referring sites.

Keep in mind this data is only for the main site and not from the forum, which we know from our record breaking 70 simultaneous visitor record had crazy traffic as well yesterday.

Thank you to all the fans who have pretty much been coming here since day one, and thanks to all of the new fans who I hope we continue to see and will get to know better in the future.

UPDATE: 7/18/08
The trailer is doing something because Friday, which is usually the worst traffic day, had some big numbers...

6,414 visits from 4,906 visitors and a total of 21,498 page views.

The 6,414 visits broke down to 3,036 (47.33%) from search engines, 1,688 (26.32%) from direct traffic and 1,685 (26.27%) from referring sites.

So virtually all of the new traffic came from significantly increased Web searches.
