Brother, where do I start on this one?

They've hired no-name screenwriters to write it, the director is primarily known for kid's movies, they're mindlessly trying to beat the strike deadline, and now (http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/movie-n ... asting.php), they're trying to cast unknowns.

Oh, and there are so many rumors flying every which way that nobody can tell news from fiction. Yeah, this just keeps getting better and better.

Now, this production has always seemed farcical to me, but the whole "unknown casting thing" was the last straw for me. Normally I'd support it, but on such a strict deadline? Does anyone else remember how long it took to cast an unknown to play Superman the last time around?

Sorting through so many unknowns just takes too much time. It's like WB is doing everything in its power to sabotage the project as it is. It just doesn't bode well.

Anyone else share my pessimism or is there reason for hope?

What director?

The director is George Miller. I wouldn't say he's primarily know for kid's movies. His biggest successes are all of the Mad Max films which he wrote, directed and produced. The man knows complicated action sequences. He's definately not JLA's weekest link.

For the kid movie cred, I would direct you to Babe, its sequel and Happy Feet. Remember, he didn't win an Oscar for Mad Max, he won it for Happy Feet.

Anyway, I agree that he's not the movie's weakest link. That dishonor goes to Warner Bros, plain and simple. I think they're trying to do too much in too little time. This is not how such an important property should be handled.

Oh, I dunno. If he's made even one good non-kid's movie in the past, there's no reason to think that he can't do it again.

When I was a kid, I used to like JLA because you got all the heroes in the same book... but as I got older, I realized that you actually didn't get any of them... just some pale, thin version of them as they interacted to defeat the Star Tsar or something similar. The only time I've ever enjoyed the Justice League as an adult was when Alan Moore used them in his Swamp Thing story with Jason Woodrue, the Flouronic Man. That was awesome.

I have little interest in a movie, but the Ocean's Eleven approach seems the best for an ensemble superhero movie. Oh well.

This film could easily come out a disaster, but somehow, I don't think Warner is willing to risk so much unless the investment is sound.

The point of a JLA movie is less about the JLA movie and more about how to jumpstart franchises for second tier characters.

If people go see it to see Superman and Batman together and then Flash and Green Lantern and Wonder Woman are cool and generate some heat, WB can make more money on those renewed characters.

The laws of diminishing returns hasn't really been set aside in Hollywood. They don't think you can make 8 great Batman movies and have them all be blockbusters. They think you can make 3 or 4 at the most before the audience grows bored. They don't really blame the failure of the Batman franchise on the cheesy kinks of Joel Schumacher and batnipples and crappy writing. They saw that a decade was needed before the audience was "ready" for another Batman movie.

So they will be expecting the current Superman and Batman franchises to wear thin and they like the idea of having Flash, WW, and GL to stand in while the heavy hitters recover.

Everything i've read and heard has led me to be expecting failure. I too feel as if the script was rushed. All of the rumored cast members seem too young to be playing established superheroes. I don't like the fact that they will re-cast Superman and Batman. By doing that, they're just gonna confuse the hell out of non comic fans who go watch this movie after watching Superman Returns and The Dark Knight. Everything i've read and heard suggest that rapper turned actor Common will be playing the role of the Green Lantern. I feel that by having a black superheroe in the movie is WB's way to say to the world "Come watch our movie. We undersand you guys really we do! We have a black man playing a superhero, not a villain." I would much rather see a well-done World's Finest movie starring Brandon Routh and Christian Bale. This JLA movie screams out toys, t-shirts, bed sheets and back packs.

And God help us all if this turns out to be true.

Normally, I wouldn't believe it. But after so many other missteps, I wouldn't be surprised.

That would be sticking close to the original material, wouldn't it?

Has anyone seen the movie/tv show pilot they did like ten years ago for a Justice League series? They showed it here on the Latinamerican TNT and it was absolutely terrible.

I can't say I'm that excited about the new film. I caught the animated series on re-runs as a kid and I liked it, but I thought it was the least interesting of all animated incarnations of supheroes. So it's not exactly a film that I'm looking forward to.

Same. I love Christopher Nolan and I love Christian Bale, but didn't even watch Begins, so why would I watch a JLA film with n00b actors playing crap characters (sorry i'm prejudiced!)!

Batman Begins is actually a great movie. One of the best, if not the best comic book movie out there!

Yes, so I've heard. But I was put off Batman in my early childhood when i was bought a batman towel, game, all sorts and I didn't even know anything about the character!
i think my parents thought comics were just for kids or something....

According to rottentomatoes.com, this guy will be playing one of, if not THE main villain in JLA. I'm not happy about that!

He was on Knocked Up and Million Dollar Baby. You shouldn't associate him for your reasons not to like Batman though...
