I second that, the trailer was really funny, it's actually pretty cool that the movie feels and sounds like it was purely made in the 70's.

For a long time i thought Catwoman was the worst film i had ever laid eyes upon, until i "met those spartans".

Recently i saw Excalibur 8/10, it's a very flawed movie, but it's still a great tale of King Arthur, and that movie alone is much better than the trilogy of Lord Of The Rings.

I really liked The Fellowship of the Ring adaption but meh, if you think so, it could be better than the Lord of the Rings trilogy as I haven't seen Excalibur. But then you probably hate the films because you liked the books, whereas I haven't read the books, so just enjoyed the films for what they were, I assure you that they are on my "to read" list.

CATWOMAN WAS TERRIBLE WHY DID I WATCH IT?
I tactfully avoided "meet the spartans" as you could tell a mile off it was gonna be shit.

Yeah what do you have against The Lord of the Rings? I read the books but I thought the movies were great.

No. Not a masterpiece. Good film. But I wouldn't call it a masterpiece.

Now, Casablanca on the other hand... :?

I haven't read the books yet, it's not that kind of case, i just saw the movies.

And no, i don't "hate" them, but everything that is good about the movie comes from a multimillion dollar production and some really great eye candy, mostly in the CGI designs, other than that, i thought that it was a pretty hollow story overall.

Which seems different in the case of Excalibur, as i said, the movie is very flawed, some of the acting is sub-par and some of the dialogue could've been written better, but it is a story about how we are all humans, for better or worse, i don't want to spoil too much, but it was a story with much more layers and depth than the Lord Of The Rings.

How do i say this without commiting some sort of blasphemy to somebody or without having Roger Ebert sending assasins after me ?

Let me put it like this:

Citizen Kane is a masterpiece.

The Godfather is a masterpiece.

The Third Man is a masterpiece.

Ben Hur is a masterpiece.

2001 is a masterpiece.

Casablanca..................is a great film, most accurately an 8/10.

I think The Lord of the Rings has quite a bit of depth. I took a Science-Fiction/Fantasy literature class in High School that was pretty much devoted to analyzing the books and movies.

But I haven't seen Excalibur. So maybe it's a lot better.

I've seen Excalibur and I think the Lord of the Rings is better. That's only because I'm not really a fan of Arthurian legend, but I am a fan of Tolkien.

Saw The Men Who Stare at Goats. I was convinced by Empire magazine that it was a Coen film, but apparently not.
It was inconsequential and pointless with a few funny one liners. 5/10 methinks.

I do have to read the books, perhaps they are better than the movies.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS is pretty deep for something that, on the surface, seems almost like pure fantasy adventure. The story deals with addiction and obsession, in addition to almost all of the "usual suspects".

I don't think EXCALIBUR, while human, was all that deep. The execution of the story and characters always disappointed me. There's so, so much more depth to be found in the Arthurian legends.

Maybe it's the romantic in me, but Casablanca: 10/10

Don't get me wrong, it is one of the most romantic and beautiful films i've ever seen.

While not really a "movie" per se, I found the Twilight Zone episode "Button, Button" on which the film The Box is based. It was very good, but now I want to read the short story and see the new movie.

9.5/10

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective 4/10

Repo the Genetic Opera

I can't say that I cared at all about any of the characters or the plot. It wasn't ever very serious or very funny. It was just kind of stupid, in my opinion. The music wasn't very good either.

It confounds me to no end as to why girls in particular like this movie.

I guess a lot of them just must like weird, bloody, kinky, S&M fantasy worlds.

Best guess as of this moment.

I watched this between Little Shop of Horrors and Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog though so I didn't have an aneurysm.

I felt the same way about this film. The only character I actually liked was the Repo Man, I thought he was the only character that interested me. The main reason why this film failed is because it tries so fucking hard to be a cult classic (instead of letting it just happened) that it fails miserably.

9/10
Cameron managed to turn a sci-fi film with horror aspects into a FUCK YEAH, SPACE MARINES!!!!! movie. God bless the man.

I didn't like that Twilight Zone episode, it felt a bit too anticlimatic to me. The short story is very good, though. The movie is okay but pretty disappointing considering the source material and the director. Definitely better than Southland Tales, but nowhere near as good as Donnie Darko.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: What the fuck is so good about Donnie Darko? I couldn't make heads or tales of it, although my boyfriend says it makes perfect sense if you're stoned when you watch it...

I saw the movie a LOOOOOOOOONG time ago, so my memory is sketchy, but i do remember liking it a lot, i'll watch it again, but i think what was so good was all the themes about morality, love, sacrifice, destiny, all combined in a very good story, to put it simply.

Solid cast. Great 80's soundtrack. Interesting, original story.

That's how you watch it, the only way for it to make that much sense (it really does work too, I know because my friend and I did it).
