Do you use the word "genius" as in "Savant prodigy" or "trained to perfection" ?

Trained to perfection.
And I don't think I've ever heard Morrison say that Superman is meant to have the keenest of minds, however I do not that I don't give a shit about anything JMS has to say about the character, as his most recent run was a gross misunderstanding of the point of Superman.

I can agree with this deffinition, I always mix-up genius with savant, so maybe that's why I don't like it when Batman is called a genius, it feels like too much mary-suing.

We can discard JMS

But by logic alone Superman he has to be, he has super-developed senses, which means he has a super-developed sensory and nervous system.

Also, it's quite explicit that Superman is a genius in All-Star Superman, I don't think any regular layman can make a formula to give you superpowers for 24 hours !

There's more to intelligence than just knowledge though, but that's a whole different can of worms

Indeed.

Though I wouldn't have a problem with Superman being a genius, it actually makes his dynamic with Batman more interesting, and it just highlights how much of a fucking loon Batman is.

I'm the opposite, I think that Superman is awesome enough at everything else, making him the smartest man in the room is a step too far.

Would... having Patrick Wilson play Batman be ironic?
Cause I look at him and see Keaton-ish potential for Wayne.

Why not? I don't think he's be a very good Wayne or Batman, but I don't see why he couldn't be.

Yeah, Wilson kinda reminds me of a pretty decent Wayne. As for the batsuit... well... lol

For all the many ways I love Nolan's interpretation of Batman, I must admit that Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne is a little too inconspicuous. Imagine that you were living in Gotham, seeing Bale's Wayne make a preening idiot of himself with that forced grin on his face. If someone told you that he was Batman, would you really be that surprised or would you be like "I knew something was up."

Part of the reason why Michael Keaton worked so well in the role is the same reason why Christopher Reeve did so well as Superman: They did equally great jobs as the hero and as the unassuming civilian. There was a huge backlash when Michael Keaton was cast because he didn't look a thing like Batman, except that worked in his favor because that was kinda the point!

Patrick Wilson has already proven himself entirely capable of that. He did a stellar job of filling in Nite Owl's mask, and his Dan Dreiberg didn't remotely look or act like someone who could possibly be a superhero. I don't know if he'd be willing or able to pull that trick a second time for Batman, but I'd like to see him try.

Egads. This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking.
Except I am a bit too lazy to explain myself as well, and make as much sense.

Good lord not again

Also we all know they are going to go younger, especially if this is for a JL Universe, no need to start old and have them aged out by the time they get to the JL film. Also... Hamm would not be a good Batman, I'm sorry. He wouldn't be a good Superman either.

Now you're just being contrarian

He is an amazing actor and his appearence is so generic he can easily play 90% of all male, dark-haired comic-book characters.

As of now, for Batman ? Maybe, MAYBE, too old (something I fully disagree with).

But, for Dark Knight Returns Batman ? Only one word for it, starts with an "A" and ends with "wesome".

Am I? I was anti-Hamm when Fillion was still being cast as every role under the sun. I'm not just trying to go against the grain, I genuinely don't think Hamm would make a good Batman or superman... maybe Punisher, but the other two I just don't buy. Nothing against Hamm as an actor, but I don't think he would be good in these roles.

Possibly, I'm still in the Powers Boothe DKR camp though.

But.....WHY ? I'm not seeing any reason for what you're saying.

Besides, the guy is an amazing actor, has dark hair, and FUCKING LOOKS LIKE BATMAN AND SUPERMAN

As I am, but that shit is never going to happen.

Unless t3cii decides to become a filmmaker and grants us our wish by directing The Dark Knight Returns !

Right t3cii  ?

Because 1), he's an average actor, and 2) he's a C list actor. Whoever ends up playing the next Batman will either be a rising star, or an unknown.

Thought about it. No.

I'm with you on this, besides the age factor, I see no reason at all why he couldn't play Batman. We know he can do the billionaire playboy shtick in his sleep. In terms of just his looks, he looks more like Bruce Wayne than Christian Bale. He can also brood like a mother fucker.

Actually, I think The Movie Dude is doing that one. I've just been brought on as a consultant.
