Just got back from it; I liked it, but wasn't in love with it. Will probably see it again so I can judge without all the hype, but right now I definitely felt it's as good, if slightly worse, than Batman Begins--which is kind of bothering me.

I'm gonna go ahead and skip over the unfortunate tragedy (that should probably be talked about in the general talk thread like it already is) and just say that I loved this film.

Also, to the shooter: death or exile?

I liked it, but I think my feelings can best be summed up in a simple analogy. For me, it's the Return of the Jedi of Batman films. I really liked it and it was a fitting and grand end to the series, but it isn't as good as its predecessors. That's my take anyway.

Also, death by exile.

How would you rank it among the trilogy?

I just got back, and I loved it. For me the trilogy ranks TDK>TDKR>BB
Most of you will disagree, but I just never really cared for Begins, and I still can't put my finger on why.

Anyway, this was a fantastic ending to the trilogy. I have several nitpicks, some bigger than others, but overall it was a tense and emotional ride, which was exactly what I hoped for.

SPOILERS:
My biggest problem by far is the fact that Bane is defeated (killed?) in a very anticlimactic way. It was great to see Catwoman come to the rescue, but we've been following bane more than any other character throughout the film, and all of a sudden he doesn't matter anymore. It almost felt as if as soon as Talia reveals herself, Bane instantly becomes just another henchman, no longer and important character. I felt cheated with him being dumped out of the way like that.

Wayne having survived was nice. I expected and wanted them to kill him off, but in the end the film was so ominous, that it was nice to see a little glint of hope at the end. And of course seeing Robin in the film left me with a huge smile. It leaves me wanting a bit more though, and it's sad to think that we won't get to see what happens with that aspect of the story, but it was a nice touch anyway.

^ In response to the Bane thing, *one of my friends had a major problem with Bane's dismissal, pretty much, as well, after Talia's arrival and it's a legitimate complaint. He also didn't like how it felt like everything Bane had done up until that point was sort of illegitimized by the reveal of Talia. I thought it was a good reveal, though, and it added another layer to Bane's character. Even though I knew Cotillard would definitely be Talia, I actually didn't know whether she would be good, bad, or a mix of both and I certainly didn't suspect them switching out her origin with Bane's.*

In response to the ending, *that was pretty cheesy, but nice. I read that he's supposed to be like a combination of the first three Robins. But as for his future vigilante career, I'd like to think he goes more Dick Grayson Batman than anything else rather than Nightwing or Robin. I also like to think that the Joker comes out of hibernation soon after and they duke it out.*

I was half expecting his birth name to be Dick Grayson.

@RJ, regarding Bane, the reveal of Talia was a double-edged sword. One one hand I agree it added depth to Bane, some humanity to him. But at the same time, as soon as we start seeing his character get fleshed out in an interesting way, BOOM, he's dead. I figured if anything, the reveal would've added more emotion to Bane's demise. Seeing his emotions when he looked at Talia made me feel for him, and made me think that there was more to him than just a bad guy, but unfortunately we never got to see more of that.

at the moment I feel like it's my favourite of the 3, that might change when I get to see it at home as much as I want though. but even so I think all 3 movies are 9/10 and I enjoy them all almost equally.

I saw it with about 10 friends and 3 of them thought it was shit, and didn't like how it was a bit duly and cliche, but as you may know, I like silly and cliche comic-booky movies, which is why I enjoy BB over TDK, even if TDK may be a better movie, it wasn't fun.

I think my only disappointment was that...[ Ra's was only a hallucination bought on by pain or whatever, I would have preferred it if he was actually alive and had been dumped in the pit]

I noticed that it never rains in the movie even though a lot of the add campaign involves the characters being rained on, [ but I guess maybe it's supposed to be that really clean sewage in the sewer].
also Selina's goggles have orange lenses just like a lot of modern versions of her suit.

I felt like that was meant as a visual metaphor more than anything else.

Alright I saw it last night, and I think it was a tad flawed. My biggest Pros were: Hathaway as Catwoman (loved it) Cotillard as Talia (Well done), The back breaking Scene, The Visual Effects, and some good minor performances (Caine, Freeman, Oldman, JGL).

The biggest flaw for me wa that this wasn't really a Batman movie, it was a movie that had Batman in it. I felt like this was much more focused on Bane's fued with the cops than it actually was on Batman vs. Bane (which is what I went in expecting and wanting). The pacing was also off, when months and weeks were passing between scenes it kind of hurt the greater plot because there was little acknowledgement of this time passage other than dialogue... there would have been stuff happening. In five Months the government did NOTHING to try and stop Bane? absolutely nothing? No Seal teams going in? No attempts of any kind? Also, there was only 1 person on the planet who knew about the bomb? 1? He didn't have a research team?

Overall I thought it was a good movie, but far from great.

7.5/10

About Hathaway as Catwoman, I've heard at least a few people didn't like her, but I thought she nailed it.

As for this not being a Batman movie, I thought it totally was. Seriously, how is it not? Just because it takes time out to focus on Gotham's situation and some supporting characters, it doesn't mean it's not Bruce's film. It really does revolve around him and his struggles and the title reflects that.
