I posted this on my Facebook wall:
Did the Aurora shooting end Midnight screenings? I was just discussing with a friend of mine how those kinds of advance screenings no longer take place at midnight, but instead, they happen at 8pm or so. And it's true, I hear a lot about Advance Screenings but nothing about Midnight ones anymore. Although I've never attended one and never planned to (Anybody who knows me knows how much I love movies, but after midnight my attention starts to wane), it's a shame that they don't seem to happen that much anymore.

No. It didn't.
I saw a few movies at midnight showings personally.
And I see them slated for midnight releases all the time.

It definitely didn't in the UK, kind of obviously, one of my friends went to a midnight screening of Into Darkness. I think it's more to do with the fact that TDKR was like the last big summer movie of last year, and we haven't really had any big summer movies yet this year, besides IM3 and STID, which both came out in Europe before America, so maybe there is less demand for "watching it the minute it comes out" for movies that don't come out in the US first.
