Cool. So I guess you don't have to watch online (assuming you don't mind being behind)?

Not really, if anyone is STILL willing to discuss last week, then you got me  !

But of course, I will shine by my absence in the future for two weeks, being the two final episodes and all  !

Not only does he hate Jacob, it seems as if Richard has some how screwed him over.

If Terry O' Quinn does not get an award for his performance, then somebody needs to hire a fucking hitman.

And NEWSFLASH, just TODAY they premiered the sixth season in Venezuela  !!!

This is really a shock, almost always it was premiered in march, I guess that they made an exception this time.

In Argentina that happened as well. AXN did it, right?

On topic: Fuck you Kate. Fuck. You. And congratulations to Holloway, he's becoming a great actor.
Awful episode, 4/10

Damn bastards !

EDIT: FUCK IT ! Couldn't resist

So, we're talking about the latest "Kate Episode".

I guess that everything I say can be biased by the single fact that all Kate episodes are good for me because I get to stare at Evangeline Lilly longer than usual, and that's simply awesome, the woman is beyond beautiful.

But then again, not everything I say can be biased. Without a doubt, I believe that some episodes are of course better than others, some episodes have more "shock" value than others, and that's usually a measure used to determine what episodes are good and what episodes are bad on LOST.

But if there's something I love from LOST apart from it's excellent writing and compelling story, is the incredible acting and the emotionally engaging trials of all the characters in the show. So while this episode wasn't the best, it was still a good LOST episode.

So after last week's mild letdown of an episode (backlash seems to have lessened from "WORST EPISODE EVER" to "not up to par with what we expect for the final season"), I have high hopes for tonight. And from what I know, those high hopes will be met.

And TVshack is getting it :P ... ?

Usually the day after right ?

BLASPHEMERS ! Thou shalt not name a Kate episode a BAD episode  !!!

Unless we're talking about the one where she has to leave her husband, now THAT was a lame LOST episode !

Sounds about right. It might be up sooner since it's on earlier tonight. Try tonight if you can. I'm sure there are other sites that will have it.

"The Substitute" 8/10

This was not as good an episode as I was hoping for. Some corny moments. Rushed scenes. Not quite as strong direction. Kind of a disappointing episode. :|

Yet it's still an 8/10 ? not bad ! I'll check it out tomorrow and keep out of this topic in the meantime

Still, not that good. And I think I might be being generous with that score. I felt there was enough new information to give it a decent score. However, when compared to previous Lost episodes, this one was kind of weak.

I found that to be an epic episode, honestly. But I'll hold back on my thoughts until everyone has seen it.

SPOILERS:

I don't know. By the last ten or fifteen minutes I was becoming disinterested. Buzz on other message boards seems to be very positive, but I couldn't really get behind this episode. Here are some of my sore points:

-The FLocke/Richard encounter was a bit of a let down. It's still early in the season but I would have liked a bit more from it than Richard just walking away. He had been knocked out in LA X and it ended with a very great and suspenseful scene with them. But it didn't feel like much came out of it in this episode.

-Seeing Richard sneak around and talking to Sawyer was unusually goofy. How the mighty have fallen.

-Off the island, we see a slightly alternate version of Locke meeting up with half of the cast from Lost. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but something about it all felt hokey to me.

-The reveal that Ben is a teacher would probably have made for a bigger "WTF?" had it been the episodes ending. I know they had to deal with Sawyer, but I think this would have been the better ending.

-Locke's "funeral" seemed a bit rushed. It felt like the writers were pressed for time and had to shoehorn it in. I kind of wished it had ended with Ben (or any of them) unable to think of something to say. It would have been an appropriate eulogy for Locke, I think. Frank's joke at the end seemed out of place though.

-I'm not sure I like FLocke retaining Locke's "don't tell me what I can't do!" catch phrase.

A few more random notes:

-The blonde kid is obviously a young Jacob. Although I have no clue why Jacob would come to Smokey as a younger version of himself

-Randy is still a dick.

-Smokey cam is kind of neat. It always reminds me of Bram Stoker's Dracula. They used similar camera shots.

-Jacob's notes inside a cliff seems needly dangerous. Why not write them inside the foot?

Damn ! Good episode, not the best, but there were some very cool revelations.

Dude, that has been happening CONSTANTLY throughout the show

In any case, none of those encounters will be as "hokey" as Ana Lucia hitting Sawyer with the car door !

Uhhhmm, I think that actually is more meaningful, the implication seems to be that there are similarities between Flocke and Locke !

t3cii wrote:

I don't know, it could be, I didn't believe people when they theorized Flocke was the monster, but if we go by "the rules speech", then anyone can fit that kid's role, it could be Ben, it could be Widmore, even Jacob.

Godziller66 wrote:

The foot seemed more like a "public" place, unlike the cave, which was secretly hidden away, perhaps Jacob, and only Jacob could know about the work being done in the cave.

And by the way, did anyone notice the two rocks on the scale ? one black, one white.

Yeah, but they were never this direct and there were never this many. So far Locke has talked to Jack, Boone, Hurley, Rose and Ben in a manner of days. I also doubt very much that Rose would offer up such a personal bit of information from her life to someone she never met. My guess is that all of these characters will meet up in the future and find their destiny.

I know it must have significance. I'm just bloody sick of that phrase.

Goziller never said that!

Sure, it wasn't very subtle. He throws the white stone into the sea ("take that Jacob!"). But notice that the black stone on the scale has now dropped to the lower position. Foreshadowing?

Also, what do you make of the numbers being written beside the names of Jack and co? I hope there is more to it than "Jacob likes numbers".

I feel like the numbers have a higher supernatural purpose than even Jacob realized, but that purpose won't be explained. Just like the flight number, hatch code, and everything else, Jacob's randomly choosing 4815162342 as the numbers for six of our characters was a coincidence.

Because Godziller is a poor soul who hasn't been fortunate to lay eyes on LOST

Could be, I really liked that part, it reminded about season 1, one of the very first episodes in which Locke explains backgammon to Walt, he tells him how it is the oldest game, how it has two sides.

In the end, it's awesome that the show's main theme is "Good VS Evil", no different than what we see in other shows, comics or movies, yet nobody does it like LOST.

Of course there is, it's just that Flocke is too narrow minded to understand it, perhaps the order has something to do with it ?

More importantly, who will win "the elections" ?

And by the way, some asshole in the IMDB forums said that Jack's name being in the cave was "another one of the endless plotholes in Lost" because Picket said in season 3 that Jack's name wasn't on Jacob's list, is that true ?

When Pickett said "Jacob's list," he was referring to one of the "kidnap these people" lists Jacob allegedly wrote, then allegedly gave to Richard, who allegedly gave to Ben. We have no reason to believe someone along that chain of command wasn't lying. I doubt Ben ever saw that cave with the numbers, I doubt even Richard ever saw that cave, and I sure as hell doubt lowly Pickett ever saw that cave.
