Cool. ^ I believe a couple of maquettes (though possibly not final versions) are floating around as well.

Anyway, the official plot synopsis has been released.

"An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence."

Sounds kiiiiiinda awesome.

doesn't tell you anything more than the "godzilla" title already did though, right?

Pacific Rim 2 ?

How would that even work though ? Godzilla happens to be destroying Tokyo while Mothra and crew begin attacking him ? The government releases him to battle an even greater threat ?

I mean, we didn't really know that there would be more than one monster in the film. We kind of assumed, but now there's confirmation.

It's interesting because it sounds like they're going to try to go for a fairly dark tone with monster as metaphor while also having uber awesome kaiju fights. That's a fine line, but it's also the movie I've always been most interested to see.

Nah, it's easy. First of all, I'm thinking they'll use original kaiju created for the film. Second, Godzilla will probably emerge along with other kaiju created by man's follies (most likely the use of nuclear warfare). He'll most likely be the only kaiju who's not completely malevolent and fight the other monsters over territory/well-being, though I'm not sure how Godzilla would be the only one who's not totally evil. I guess we don't know enough plot details to determine that yet.

And it won't be Pacific Rim 2. No giant robots and a completely different tone.

Edit: Inside the Godzilla encounter building in San Diego. http://collider.com/godzilla-encounter- ... ore-269103

I love that shot of what appears to be a mountain or an active volcano... until it pans a ways over and we can see it has claws and a tail.

The J. Robert Oppenheimer quotation implies a return to Godzilla's atomic-themed roots. Also, that big reveal and the classic scream were both incredible.

To sum up: FUCK. YEAH. Fuck yeah. All of the fuck yeah.

The first two don't really do much for me. It's not like we needed any reassurance that the characters would spend so much time looking off into the distance at all the greenscreen destruction.

But that last shot is awesome. I love how it gives a distinct silhouette of Godzilla while leaving most of the details to the imagination. Very nicely done.
