So, fans of the comic must have been jizzing themselves at the sight of the samurai sword wielding, zombie walking, hooded chick. Devin Faraci made a point about her that I think I agree with in that she's such a fantastical character. She might work in a comic setting, but she has a bit of a manga quality to her that seems like it would be at odds with this shows tone.

Disagrees, severely.

I fucking hate Michonne, she was cool when she first came onto the story back in the comics, black badass chick with samurai sword ? Being stoic and slicing zombies left and right ? Can't go wrong with that one, huh ?

Wrong, after years of the same shit, you kinda discover Kirkman had no fucking clue about what to do with her, he still doesn't, and that's why her schtick got old a seriously long time ago !

Really unsure what I want to say about the episode, so I'll do what I usually do: rant!

CarlWatch continues... Until next season, y'all.

I keep wishing the show would split the characters up. I kept thinking how awesome it would have been if it had simply ended with them going their separate ways after the tragedy and for next season to pick up six months later as they've regrouped or... Whatever the hell.

Laurie's pregnancy without shane's presence is a stupid plotline. Unless she's super pregnant next season, which requires a time jump, there's no way for it to be even remotely relevant. I smell a miscarriage. Which should have happened when she flipped her car, but whatever.

Laurie was bothered that Rick killed shane. But she was PISSED that Carl shot him. I didn't understand that scene or her reactions at all. She did some siren shit in Rick's ear about killing shane! then she won't look Rick in the eye because of Carl's involvement. Let's recap: Rick didn't want Carl to learn to shoot. Who did and gave him a gun? Shane. When Carl showed his inner douche prick and told Sheila (is that her fucking name?) Heaven doesn't exist, who cursed him out? Rick. Who said they should just "talk to him?" Laurie.

Honey, if you want to be upset with someone, find a shattered rearview mirror in an abandoned car in some ditch and take a good, hard look.

Those are the moments where the show's writing bothers me most. It's not bad that Laurie has these responses, I just don't get HOW or WHY she does. These episodes don't span weeks such that characters should forget the shit they said and did two episodes ago.

And then, without ever having created some emergency meet up spot at any point this season (which appalled me, honestly) they all miraculously wind up at the highway at the same fucking time.

It's just bad writing guys, I'm sorry. And it really hinders a show that could otherwise be great but instead settles for good.

Still, the episode was, as a whole, very entertaining and sets up promise for next season which should hopefully be more consistent with only one show runner and any other staff changes *cough* the writers *cough* that might occur between seasons.

CARLWATCH2012!

^It's Carol, but Sheila works perfectly.

They did that on season 3 of Lost. Fans didn't like seeing the group split up like that, although it might force some characters like T-Dog and Carol (seriously, Mal, Sheila? How do you get Sheila from Carol?) to step things up in the character department.

Hmm, good point. How many days have passed since Rick woke up in the hospital? It probably hadn't even been a month yet.

Actually, wasn't it Rick who let Carl keep the gun? I'm not the biggest Laurie fan but her reaction to Carl being the one who put Shane down seems totally reasonable to me.

Nit pick. The highway seems like the obvious meet up spot since they were camped there for a while. Plus Daryle followed Glen when he spotted his car. And T-Dog wasn't headed in that direction until Laurie told him to go back. And unless you want the episode to have all the characters waiting around until they all hook up again, I don't see what's wrong with how quickly it happened.

One thing I think we can all be relived about is T-Dog surviving.

Stay strong, you black prince, stay strong.

Yes, I think we can all praise chocolate Jesus that T-Dog lives!
About the rendezvous: it obviously wasnt the logical place if Glenn suggested they go one way, Maggie said they couldn't because of the hoard and then they just kinda drove. Plus, I thought that Laurie was telling T-Dog to drove back to the farm, not the highway in particular? Idk I agree that I'm probably nitpicking, but it just felt a little contrived for them to just all magically appear at the highway - honestly I thought the nearby town was a more obvious destination. But then I decided to assume, yes "decided to assume" that that highway is the only route to or from the farm. So case closed!

Edit: BTW I *think* they said it was 2 weeks since rick had been in the hospital and laurie had run off with shane and let him put the tip in. but I could be wrong.

I really hope we see that black father and son again. I was hoping they'd be regulars. They were awesome and the writers totally dropped that side story.

Funny sidenote, when Dog was driving and Laurie said "well let us out then" I immediately pictured the blonde girl being like "us? Bitch, speak for yourself I just watched my family get slaughtered and my home destroyed. You can go ahead and do you!"

But that would probably only happen in Zombie Nights and Strawberry Dreams.

So would I, since he brought the pathos in that first episode and seems like a likable and reliable character. But it all depends on the availability of Lennie James, who I think is going to be on a new series. I doubt they'll be back, though, since it seems like season 3 will probably be like season 2 in that it all takes place in one location. Though it's easy to forget that the first season was only 6 episodes long. While a lot of time has taken place in between filming, only weeks have passed on the show.

Mazzara talks about the next season and beyond and touches on some of the things we've been talking about in this thread:http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=56739

Quote:
"Right now, I do see the prison storyline lasting through both Season 3 and 4. I do think that is a major storyline. I know we were on the farm, perhaps, longer than people wanted. There were reasons for that. What we want is for that prison to not feel claustrophobic. I think the farm played a little claustrophobic for some people. Now that the entire landscape has fallen victim to the zombie apocalypse, zombies are literally at the gates of this prison. That prison is a very small safe corner. There is a lot of danger around. It won't feel like we are bottled up, the way we were on the farm. I do think that prison is a significant storyline, but we are also interested in opening up this world. The Governor has the world of Woodbury. There are other factors out there, other groups. I do think that Rick's group is stumbling into a much larger world."

"There is a lot of great material from the comic book. This show would have to go on for twenty years to get to all of it. I think the Tyrese character is someone we are interested in introducing at some point. We still have Morgan and Dwayne, who are out there from the pilot. We are interested in them. There are new characters that will be original too the series. Not coming straight from the comic book. I think the first two seasons have served as a prologue. Now we are hitting the ground running. I see Season 3 resetting the show in terms of what I really hope to convey."

Season one and two as a prologue? I can't with him right now. Let's call a spade a spade without all the racial connotations, and just admit you weren't satisfied with how these two seasons played out. Calling season two's 13 or so episodes a prologue *really* doesn't make me feel good about the time I've invested, nor excited for the next season.

I've just realized that the time spent at the farm is roughly equal to one villain fight in Dragonball Z.

LOL or the time it takes Goku to train so he can come back from the dead for the eighth time.

I know it won't be possible, but I really, really, desperately need them to go full-hard with the Governor stuff.

Basically: Rick's severed hand, or get the fuck out.

Priority for me is seeing him frenching his zombie daughter.

Also, it'd be really neat if they had that scene of Glenn crying in his cell, that shit tore me apart.

No, and don't really mean to unfortunately.
I'm back logged on everything. I mean, i could download this shit if I wanted. The comics.
Just like I could've downloaded Before Watchmen. I haven't even peeked in a single issue.
I haven't seen Breaking Bad, or Battlestar Galactica, or The Wire, or pretty much anything worth my time.
I also mean to see Sons of Anarchy and read some legitimate batman stuff.
I'm most likely the least versed in comics out of everyone here.
I know enough to hold a conversation, and more than your average guy, but have I READ this stuff?
No. I know most because my dad was a comic nerd too.
I was reading Earth X and Kingdom Come as a little kid, and digging into Astro City.
Unfortunately, I have SO much to catch up on and venture into- the walking dead comics are actually close to the bottom of my list. Very bottom.
