I'm currently having an Avatar marathon. Almost done with the whole first season.

I friggin love this show.
Its a huge sprawling mystical adventure that's also a surprisingly effective coming of age story.

And I disagree with people who say that its an unfilmable property (as in live action)
I just think it needs to be given to the right people.
But after Shayamalan's tragic fuck up, I think we won't be seeing another attempt in ages.

I haven't seen all of Avatar, but by now I know that nothing is truly unfilmable.

I had always seen an episode here or there, and always wanted to see the whole thing.
Luckily Netflix has the first three seasons, and I have a day with pretty much nothing to do.

So I've been watching the 2nd season of The Wire and so far I'm not loving it as much as the first. I understand and I actually love the idea of having more characters and a differnet setting, but it feels like at three episodes in, the writers are struggling keeping in touch with everyone, resulting in a lot of unresolved threads per episode. I know that this is an episodic show, but too many characters are reduced to "blink and you missed it" moments.

Almost every fan of the show has said that of the 2nd season. You will change your tune by seasons end, I promise you.

So I did finally see it from beginning to end and I did like it a lot. Not as much as the first season, but that's because I wanted more. I was dying to see more of everyone. I thought the first season did a great job in balancing character and plot based moments and I feel this one struggled a bit in trying to get both to come together, but it was still quite good.

Ziggy was my favorite character from this season. He was a hilarious but ultimately tragic figure. And it seems like he has a penchant for getting for trouble everywhere, not just in "The Wire" : p

I think you'll like season 3 even more.

I wonder if feliciano ever finished season 5?

Finished the whole show.

I'm probably streets behind on this, but I'm actually watching a tv show for once. It's Louie and it's great. Basically, it's just like Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm except it's Louis C.K. and it's actually occasionally meaningful and dramatic as well as funny and quirky.

and created by JJ Abrams!

not surprised it's underwhelming. the premise sounds like it will take a whole season to get going.

Not only that, but it's clearly based on "The Postman", you know, that movie with Kevin Costner nobody wants to remember ?

Yes, the fucking postman.

So, I just watched the pilot for this, and I must say that I am impressed. Revolution was a little disappointing, but I will definitely be watching this show for as long as it runs. Also, it doesn't officially premiere until Thursday, so don't worry thinking you already missed it or anything.

What impressed you about it? it's a cool looking image but...
I need to be convinced. But I wouldn't mind having another quality show to look forward to.

Well, for starters, I myself am in the process of signing up for the Navy, and have considered going on a submarine (it's entirely operated by volunteers), so that's one thing. Also, the last military drama that really got anywhere was JAG, but I don't care for lawyers. Also, some of the ideas so far presented in the pilot (false-flag ops, further wars in the Middle East, nuclear submarines with prototype magnetism devices) have a realistic edge to them, and could happen in our future. Plus, the casting is hella tight.

I don't know about the rest of the forum, but I consider this big news, we should discuss.

^Shit, I've been meaning to watch that show. It's got the guy that played Winters in Band of Brothers.

Also, the pilot for Last Resort is online http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/fall-tv/exclu ... 22041.html

I would also consider watching Crimson Tide to get an idea of submarine life, if anyone is interested. In fact, I shall vote for it in the movie club.

Wouldn´t call Homeland a military drama. If anything it´s more of spy drama...
