That's alright because this isn't really a 2011 thread.

8-)

Well, those movies were released in american theaters in 2011 so I think they count in some way or another.

Just a few words more about Sucker Punch:

As I think all of my lists show, very little gets a movie into my good graces like ambition and originality. And Snyder's film was overflowing with both. Every frame of the film is evidence that Snyder was trying with every fiber of his being to create something new and big and profound and spectacular. Some think he succeeded, others didn't, and I confess that I still haven't quite made up my mind.

Some call this film one of the year's worst, and I don't mind. Some call it an ugly movie, and I'll respectfully chalk that up to a difference of opinion. Some call it completely dumb and shallow, and that really infuriates me. Movies that were so clearly made with this much effort and creativity are to be nurtured and defended. They are to be praised for having the balls to stand up in the multiplex against all the sequels, retreads, and mediocre shit released this year. This is ultimately why I didn't put Sucker Punch on my "Disappointments" list: I'd much rather see a film aim for greatness and fail than a film that aims for mediocrity and succeeds. And it's my humble opinion that of all the failures released this year, none aimed higher or came closer to succeeding than Sucker Punch did.

I was going to leave it at that, but it would be nice for people to learn to count. :D

Saw:

Drive
Contagion
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2
Captain America: The First Avenger
Sucker Punch

Didn't see/want to see:

Everything else

I saw some more new movies last year (for me at least), but they weren't 2011 films.

A comeback from the brilliantly black-funny In Bruges?

How about London Boulevard?

And, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy should be on all these lists.

He means a comeback starting with In Bruges.

I just realized that I forgot to give The Guard an honorable mention. I feel so guilty now.

Love, hate... all the same. Burn the world down.

I have missed way too many movies this year to make any kind of list, other than one which reflects my inadequacies as a consumer.
