The first trailer for this film finally has arrived; and from the looks of things, Joss Whedon has replicated every single teenage horror cliche known to film.

That may be a bit harsh, and I mostly blame the poorly edited trailer for my unenthusiastic response, as it does seem like there are some things that suggest that things might go into a wildly different direction.

What do you guys think?

I'm game for anything Joss Whedon puts his name to.

Regarding the trailer itself, I get the feeling that there's still a lot to this movie that hasn't been told yet. Let's not forget that in spite of how long this movie's been in the can, we still knew absolutely nothing about it until that trailer hit. Watching the trailer, it seemed like the editor was dancing on a very thin line, giving just enough to provide the illusion of disclosing a premise and nothing more.

I'm waiting to see more, and I can't wait until I get it.

I really like how this one looks. I love the inclusion of weird, scientifical elements on it. It really does seem up my alley. I hope the wait has been worth it.

Really? It's pretty clear that he's replicating them on purpose. From what I gathered it's some sort of self-aware version of Hostel mixed with Evil Dead and every other supernatural/woodlands horror where they're putting these kids through all the standard horror chilches for some form of amusement. I mean... there's force fields in it. Really not sure how I feel about this but I might see it.

He is. This project is old. It goes back about three years now and I think it was actually Drew Goddard that's directing.

For some reason, call me a whedon fanboy, I'm super excited for this movie. I can't read any reviews because apparently they're super spoilery. But for those interested whedon and his co writer drew goddard, along with a few cast members, did a Q & A after the premiere last night at SXSW. Here it is:

No idea what it is, but I know I'll be going to see it.

In 2D, as Whedon intended.

You have to search on the main site. Apparently posts made after the update can't be found through search for some reason.

Ah, the main site. I should have remembered there was a search function there as well. Then again, nothing came up when I tried the Google workaround. I wonder why.

Anyway, the threads have been merged.

Sweet. I'm significantly more excited for this now.

I hope it ends like Big Man Japan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuNoR49CaQQ
