I wonder if this will be called Mad Max IV here and simply Fury Road in USA.

I'm sure I will be bringing down wrath, but my least favorite Mad Max film is the first one, and my favorite is the third. Sorry.

Nothing against the first one, but that's more of a biker gang movie, not a post-apocalyptic/sci-fi movie - which is more of what I like.

the 3rd one might aswell have been a Kevin Costner movie, since it has more the tone of The Post Man and Waterworld rather than the first 2 movies, not that it's bad, it's just too much of a deviation.

I really like The Road Warrior as a pure action film, but let's admit that the plot is very simple - stop bad guys from getting gas. No subplots, no subtext. It's elegant and simple and fun, but not much else.

Hate on it if you like, but there are some deeper themes in MM:BT between Bartertown's politics and the feral children. I felt it was a much denser film.

I know lots of die-hard MM fans hated BT because there was very few car chases and driving scenes.

They probably hate BT because the cars are a part of what makes Mad Max, uh, Mad Max. I don't hate BT, in fact I like it a lot, sure it's a little cheesy, but when I look at movies in story more than what's presented on the screen, I feel it makes them a lot better.

This is why I actually enjoy the Star Wars prequels.

Yeah. I seriously agree with this.

Only, TRW is my fave Mad Max.

That's an extremely confusing statement.

Because the only reason one should like the prequels at all is because of the special effects and sheer spectacle presented on the screen.

Apart from maybe 3, the stories are pitiful.

it looks like they are channeling road warrior, considering the new films are meant to fill in the gap between road warrior and thunderdome.

i dig it.
