A raccoon that speaks and pilots a starship and is an expert marksman with a Native American accent? C'mon, that would just be silly.

However, it turns out (and I only just read this about five minutes ago) that in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 there was an appearance by Rocket, and he was voiced and given a Cockney accent by voice actor Greg Ellis, so there is precedent for a Vinnie Jones-style approach.

And he was voiced by Greg Ellis again in Avengers EMH.

I have always had him as a higher pitched Clint eastwood, he's small so his audible sounds would be higher pitched... but he's a tough guy so I ptched him have a cool guy rasp.

I've never bought him as british and there has been absolutely no indication in the comics that he's british.

Find me a single time I have uttered that a character who doesn't live on earth is a us citizen... go ahead, find it. While you're looking you'll probably find a snipe and a leprechaun.

Saying the voice I hear is like a higher pitched Clint Eastwood is not even close to saying he's a US citizen so stop trying to put words in my mouth.

I believe you were implying that a U.S. accent is the accepted standard "normal" accent.

It is, of course.

Actually, what I objected to was:

Dude, he's from outer space... to my knowledge he's never even been to Britain... so it's impossible for him to be British. Furthermore, saying someone ISN'T British is not the same as saying they ARE American. Who's really twisting the truth here, feli?

Exactly, so why is it unconceivable that he would sound like a brit if it's perfectly okay for him to sound like an US citizen ?

What part of me having an opinion on anything is so hard for you to grasp with your miniscule brain? I said that "I" never bought him sounding distinctly British, and to "ME" the voice I heard was higher pitched clint... I never said it's impossible (seeing as how both of his voiced appearances have been british)... just saying my opinion.

Actually, I think a British accent is probably the most suitable thing for this type of character.

Have you guys ever seen Star Wars or Doctor Who? Everyone in space is British.

Blah blah blah blah dude admit it, you got mad at the idea that he wasn't going to sound "american"

For my part, I think he could perfectly sound say..............irish !

A few weeks ago I played the demo for this videogame called "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning", a fantasy-RPG in which the gnomes spoke in the THICKEST scottish accent I've ever heard in my life, it was quite noticeable, but worked because I noticed in a while that distinct races had distinct accents, it gave it more depth to all the characters as different, separate races.

It was just a joke, Brooky. Calm down.

That said, pretty much everyone in the Empire is British.

Hmmmmm... maybe there was some allusion there...

Although, they really aren't British... because they aren't even from Earth, they just sound British.

Well, same goes for Rocket Raccoon, surely.

Seriously, though, they're probably gonna make him British. They've already done it for the Avengers cartoon and Marvel vs. Capcom.

Huh, I was thinking they might make him sound US-bland on account of the target audience.
