So I know this is early to start talking about another Batman movie, but I was just thinking today about the different ways that they could differentiate it from the other Batman films made so far. The two coolest sounding things I came up with were

1) A Batman film inspired by the early Golden Age comics. Make it take place in the 40's and give it a Noir feel and even throw in a supernatural villain like the Mad Monk maybe.

2) A Batman Beyond film. This one's kind of self-explanatory. Batman in the future. Cyberpunk feel, Terry Mcginnis, the works.

What do you guys think? Do you have any other ideas?

Neither of those is going to happen, we're going to get much of the same that we've gotten before.

Yeah, I would like to see the Black and Gray suit, personally.

I've said this before, but live action BTAS. I've always thought that was the best version of the character, and I just like the look of the universe it was set in. I wouldn't necessarily set it during the 40's, but I'd keep that sort of art deco influence. It would actually probably be closer to Tim Burton's movies, but with the wackiness toned down.

So, in terms of visuals, stuff like this:

Yeah, me too. I know the tights can look good in live-action because of fan films like Batman: Dead End and that one Joker one.

I only ask that we don't get another origin story. I know it's pointless and we'll probably get one anyway, but what's the point?

What I'd really like to see is something like the '89 film, in which Bruce Wayne is full-on Batman at the outset and our protagonists find out more about him as the movie continues. But instead of Vicki Vale, the protagonist should be Robin. This would provide a better arc for our protagonist, and it would put us in a better position to see how Batman develops in response to the narrative and to Robin.

As for the villain, I'd like to see Robin on a similar path as Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker. By that, I mean that he'd initially be obsessed with finding his parents' killer, only to set that aside to work with Batman and fight some greater threat. I'm sure Bruce Wayne would have some interesting thoughts on that.

Just a few ideas. Can't wait to hear yours.

Not a bad take at all. People might not be over the emotional scarring from '97, though.

i would like to see Batman: Dead End fully-fleshed out

also, in response to a live-action BTAS:

how would they make the dark deco style really work? i mean, you've got older cars, zeppelins, but at the same time advanced tech, plus considering the time we're living in, you'd have to shoot in specific cities, etc. it would be a hassle. i'm still annoyed that we haven't seen the wayne tower from BB again, i liked it much more than the one in TDK/R.

Learn from what was great about Nolan for starters, what he brought to the table, how he changed the game, etc.

But, take a few more risks, crazier villains for example.

I actually was thinking more something like Arkham Asylum, an armor suit but with gray instead of black

That would work too. Kind of like how his costume is more geared towards an armor type look in the New 52 as well. Especially in Justice League.

I agree, I think we've done well to indulge ourselves in the new "battle armor" trend to not finally learn, for once and for all, that tights look fucking ridiculous, and useless as well.

Well, they're certainly not a good idea for battle, but they can look good in live-action, as I've stated.

My pick for Batman, he's got a nice jaw line and looks heroic, and on Grimm he's pretty good as a believable detective/crime fighter.

DISCUSS!!!

He plays the main character on Grimm, his character is a supernatural detective who tracks down creatures who commit crimes against humans.

So basically he's one costume from being Batman.

Well, he certainly looks more like Bruce Wayne than anyone else who's ever played him. I don't watch Grimm, though, though I really should.

David Giuntoli? Okay, stand aside. Let the Portlander through. *ahem*

I won't deny that Giuntoli has improved a great deal since the pilot of Grimm, when he was about as bland as a carpet sample. Over the course of the season, he's definitely grown as an actor and he's gotten a lot more comfortable in his role. That said, I really don't think he's worthy to don the cowl. Maybe he'll be a strong enough actor in another few years, but not right now.

I remember that Armie Hammer was slated to play Batman back in the ill-fated and mercy-killed Justice League project. He would've been a terrible choice at the time, but I think he's good for it now. He's already put in one (two?) Oscar-worthy performances, and I could easily see him taking on a more action-packed role.

Still, Hammer would only work for a younger Batman. If we're bringing Robin into this, we'll need someone older. I'll need to think about this.
