Probably a safe bet, to say the least.

Ed Brubaker, truly you've left your mark.

After Bucky's treatment in the last film, was there ever a doubt that the sequel would go in this direction? I'll be interested to see where the sequel goes with Bucky, particularly under such unorthodox choices for directors.

I've put a lot of thought into how and why the Russo Brothers got this gig. As far as I can tell, there's only one thing that qualifies them to direct this movie: They are both tremendous geeks. They'd have to be. As anyone who's seen Community can attest, there's no way anyone could get to be exec-producers on that show unless they were pop culture nerds of the highest order.

So you mean that one character that no one really gave a shit about is going to be featured prominently in the sequel?

Awesome.

I do wonder if they're going to just simply get a different actor for The Winter Soldier, because I couldn't imaging them using the Bucky from the first Captain America.

Obviously you don't read Captain America comics... or a lot of comics in general... Winter Soldier/Bucky has been huge the last few years, he was even in the original Ultimate Alliance game.

I'm pretty sure they had this planned and are using the same actor, I don't see why they wouldn't. That being said though, weren't you one of the ones who complained that the first Captain America movie didn't have enough self degrading satire?

Ummm...I was talking entirely about the film...unless you somehow thought Bucky's involvement in th e "The First Avenger" was so "engrossing."

1. Not sure what that has to do with this conversation.
2. Not what I said. What I did say was that one of the highlights of the film (in a movie with very few of them) is of Captain America trying to find his place as a soldier and as a super hero. Why? Because I find Captain America (at least this film's interpretation) an incredibly bland and ridiculously one-note superhero. So anything that gives him any sort of depth was a plus in my book. Maybe Captain America 2 (if I choose to see it; I probably will.) will change my mind, but as of now--he's fucking lame.

Alright, I misunderstood, I thought you meant winter soldier as a character in general, not just the movie...

1. It has to do with the conversation because if you didn't like Captain America as a character or movie... the odds of you being excited for the sequel are slim to none.
2. Sorry I was slightly off in remember a quote from last year.

Anything that gets Anthony Mackie more work is A-OK by me. And an action role? Fuck yeah.

I've read your posts for years now, both here and elsewhere, and I know that you know the answer to that.

Also, I hope that at no point in this movie do they make any reference to "Snap" Wilson.
