Am I the only one who just found out about this?
Biggest fear? Right now? Is that all the creativity and underhanded humor will be absent leaving us with just gross out gore. From the sound of it? Very gross. I get shock value, but if this is just going to go beat for beat without doing anything funny or fresh...? Pass.

However I sense an equal chance it could be awesome.

Not sold either way.

i believe that it is Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell approved. That's good enough for me, as long as it is not a beat for beat remake.

True. True. Although I think having a new protagonist could go a long way. It'd be impossible to re-do Ash.
Tony Stark is Iron Man.
Bruce Campbell is Ash.

Having said that, I think Mia (the new protag) could possibly be cool.

I never do pass up a chance to see a chick with a chainsaw getting all bloody and shit.

But still. Skeptical right here.

which explains why there was already a thread...

Last I heard about anything regarding this was a tidbit about Ashton Kutcher playing Ash.
Thank god that didn't happen.

Can't lookit the trailer right now, but I will for sure when I do get a chance.

I didn't even know this existed until I was at Comic-Con looking at the program schedule.

Didn't have a chance to make it to the panel, but that trailer doesn't look half bad.

Eh, I'm not impressed. I know it's only a trailer, but there doesn't seem to be any of the humor or creativity that the original one had. This one just looks like another modern gorefest.

I'm somewhat with Oscar on this.
Although I do think this will manage to be a decent and creative gorefest...
It looks like they're going for balls-out edgy.
Which is pointless without the humor and such.

I think this is going to wind up being another sterling example of something that shouldn't be touched.
It will lose the humor and creativity, and it'll be nothing but unrelenting gross out gore.
Please. Tell me how that's doing anything fresh with the material?
Please. Tell me how this is any better than going to see another Hostel? Or another Saw sequel?

I want to be optimistic, especially since I love the originals, but this looks flat.

And what the FUCK is up with tinting and shit?
Watch Die Hard. Then watch Live Free or Die Hard.
Live Free is Michael Bay'd! The contrast is cranked up and it's tinted!
Everything has a greenish hue to it.

I HATE IT.

Now this looks like it's doing it too. It looks dark, visually, and contrasted and just visually mucky!
Blood looks black and things are poorly lit. This isn't an effect of the bootleg either.
It's rare I find a movie that doesn't look like it was fucked with visually nowadays.
I miss the good old days when what was being filmed, was what you saw on the screen.
Color, brightness, contrast.
Pardon me, but I think if that shit can't be done practically, in camera, then DON'T.
Not unless it serves a purpose.

Otherwise to me, it just makes your movie look like shit. Especially making shit look darker.
Is this just me? Or is this annoying other people too? Or better yet, am I imagining things?

that funny since many people seem to hate raimi's comedy these days he was blasted for his over the top campy comedy in spiderman

and to be fair if getting rid of some laughs is what made original great it must not of been all that to begin with

the difference is that Spider-man was not dark enough to balance the comedy.
when you look at one of the darker scenes in the trilogy, the scene in which surgeons are attempting to remove Doc Ock's "arms" and the arms then slaughter everyone in the room, I consider that one of the best scenes in the trilogy because it's really what Raimi is good at, adding a bit of slapstick and comedy to a scene that is actually pretty horrific

is it me or *is there gonna be a new tree rape scene, considering how that one girl is outside while it appears that the evil is getting closer to her, and then you see she's a zombie in the next few shots*

I think the trailer makes it pretty clear that there will be.

i know, it's just that i've read that raimi regretted ever putting it in the original, and i heard that they weren't considering it for the remake.

glad to be proven wrong :D

yeah that's what I meant, I was choosing not to mention it to keep my post vague, and therefore avoid spoilers, since WJK spoilered his mention of it in his post.

The trailer that is not officially released yet. but WJK put it in spoilers so I felt obliged to not overtly mention it.

I'm not trying to start shit, I'm just-

I think trying to avoid spoilers from a trailer is like...

*So guys. Saw that new bootleg of the MOS trailer. Didn't wanna ruin it for you guys, but he's still totally wearing a cape in this one.*

Idk. More on topic, I'm not really excited for this. Maybe when I can pour over an official trailer, I might find details that would go a long ways towards getting me jazzed for this.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong... but, (i'm on my PS3 browser and can't load the trailer here) from what I remember noticing in the clip where the vine wrapped around her leg... was it daytime? If so, how do you think that would factor into the narrative?
Nighttime provides effective uuh.. idk what the word is I'm looking for.
But it's easier to pull across confusion and terror in the dark.
So, yeah.
