Michelle MacLaren(Breaking Bad,The Walking Dead,Game Of Thrones) In Talks to Direct WONDER WOMAN Movie
Image
Quote:
Warner Bros.’s Wonder Woman movie may be zeroing in on a director choice — and a female one at that. Sources say Michelle MacLaren is emerging as a frontrunner to direct a Wonder Woman spinoff movie. Warners had no comment. It is unclear what stage of talks MacLaren is in with the studio, which is keeping a tight lid on its DC Entertainment-based projects. But sources say MacLaren has had several meetings with the studio regarding the project.According to their sources, there is an official short list for the film, and not all of the choices are women. MacLaren is the top of the list though, and she just recently finished directing an episode of AMC’s upcoming show, Better Call Saul.

Wonder Woman, whomever directs, will be released on June 23, 2017. Gal Gadot will play the title role, which she’ll originate in 2016′s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” Zack Snyder said when Gadot was cast. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

I'm not familiar with MacLaren's work, but I heard her name pop up quite frequently when I heard that DC/WB was looking for a female director. Based on her CV, I'm very interested to see her take her shot.

1. You say that like it's the only thing that went wrong with that movie.
2. Even if it was, I think that reflects more on Alan Taylor specifically than every single person who ever directed a Game of Thrones episode.
3. It's not like Thor 2 was entirely without merit.

Alan Taylor did fine what he got. I could definitely tell he brought a certain sense of atmosphere and action to the story, similar to his work on GoT, also from what it seems, he was shut out of the editing room. I want to blame the script as well, since the story was what was boring about that movie. And then again, the script was written by the same guys who wrote The Winter Soldier.

I am not so sure if the script was the issue in Thor 2. It had some great stuff in there, I just felt the movie was tonally all over the place, and in the end fell flat. I don't think it was solely Alan Taylor's fault, I meant my comment more in a jokey way, but I do feel that Thor 2 shines when there are scenes that would not be out of place in GoT, such as most of the stuff on Asgard, and the opening battle scene, and loses all that steam when it gets to anything remotely sci-fi or Earth based, such as when Thor and Loki are flying the Dark Elf fighter, pretty much all the way to the end of the movie.
