Y: The Last Man.

I'm actually amazed this doesn't have it's own thread. I finally finished it tonight. It's just so much longer than most other GN stories, as it actually spanned 60 issues and 5 years total.

To be honest, it had as much emotional impact for me as Watchmen and Maus. I can't say I agree with some of the final story points that Vaughn threw in there (if you've read it, it has to do with a seemingly random pairing of surviving characters that just came out of nowhere). I'm unsure as to whether or not I even like the ending. Maybe that isn't the point, and too many things were just meant to be left unsolved. I guess, in the end, we have to learn that life doesn't end with a clean denouement, and we just have to learn how to escape.

And I'll be damned, but that GN was for mature audiences. I hope it really doesn't get turned into a Shia LeBeouf vehicle... I suppose seeing rats chew up corpses, axes to heads, and countless sex scense shouldn't surprise me anymore. Somehow, it was still fresh and real to me, and I don't want to see that ruined on screen. That being said, they might be doing it right and making a trilogy out of it, and not f'n the whole thing up and cutting about 1500 pages of panels into a 2 hour action flick.

Where do I start with Y? what is the first trade?
I want to read a marvel comic but I have never read one, where should I start, what are the more mature ones?
And is The Originals good? It looked interesting, but I bought the first trade of 100 bullets instead.

i started with marvel zombies, and 1602, good stand alones, and with marvel zombies you could also get marvel zombies: dead days which features some issues (starring the marvel zombies) of ultimate fantastic 4, which could then get you to read UFF, and some issues of black panther, which co star human torch, the thing, and storm, which could get you into 616 marvel stuff.

Try Mark Millar's Ultimates, a kind of alternative version of The Avengers which requires no prior knowledge. It's somewhat similar to The Authority, if you're familiar with that...

Also, I recommend any Frank Miller work on Daredevil (all of which is available in the Frank Miller Daredevil Omnibus and the Omnibus Companion; it's mostly very, very awesome).

THANKS VERY MUCH

I now have the Marvel podcast on my iPod, so I can check out interesting stuff from that also, they talked about Zombies quite recently.

If you like zombie comics pick up the Walking Dead. You can get the trades, there's around 8 or 9 out.

My vote goes with Preacher. Only thing is that it's a long ass book. There are 9 different books you have to buy seperately, but it's totally worth it, I would almost hold in on par with Watchmen as my favorite book of all time.
