Now here is something I'm excited about. DC Comics is going to put out a feature in July (on my birthday, oddly enough) that will run for 12 weeks called "Wednesday Comics." How can I describe this? When you were little, did you look forward to the Sunday funnies? I know I did. I loved reading Prince Valiant and Calvin and Hobbes. My nana would always have a bowl of raisin bran and the Sunday funnies waiting for me on the table when I woke up, and it's one of my favorite childhood memories.

Ok, so here's the segue:

DC's taking some of their coolest characters and making stories about them in the style of the Sunday funnies. 16 giant (28x20) pages in COLOR. They'll be folded when you get 'em, to size 7x10, I believe, but man. Characters like Batman, Metamorpho, The Flash ... and here's one that kills me ... SGT. Rock, drawn by original "Rock" artist Joe Kubert and written by his son Andy. God, that alone would make me buy it. Here's a link:

So, am I the only one who thinks this is cool and the gang?!

Ok, I just got this today. GOD, it is AWESOME. It is serialized, and the color is fantastic, vibrant. The stories are very reminiscent of Sunday funnies stories, and the fact that they're in a newspaper format makes them more fun to read, for some reason. I love the Metamorpho spread, and how Sgt. Rock is starting out. You really should give this a whirl at least once.

I would If I could. But it's weird, seeing that newspaper are a dying medium.

Why can't you? If you live in another country, you can purchase the comics on ebay. Newspaper dying? I don't see newspapers going anywhere anytime soon. However, even if that is the case, then Wednesday Comics provide some nostalgia, too.

I could do without the Teen Titans story, and the Wonder Woman story was just too cramped and confusing, but everything else was FANTASTIC. They had me at the end of the Batman spread. Gosh, and seeing Joe Kubert take on Sgt. Rock again was just too cool for words.

I really liked the style of the TT piece, I think it could be good, WW was to cramped, I loved the art, but it was too tight and the panels were (as a result) way to small

Issue #2 has hit the racks as of today. God. That Kamandi story is getting so full of win that I can't wait for next week. Batman shaped up nicely, and I haven't read the rest, but lord a'mighty, I am excited!

Issue #4 just hit the racks today. If you didn't pick up #3, it was great fun. #4, though ... wow. This Kamandi story keeps blowing me away. I read it earlier today, and was glued to it. Batman is so full of intrigue. I love it! Metamorpho is ramping up, as well, and Strange Adventures is another home run, in my opinion. I have ceased altogether reading Wonder Woman and Teen Titans, but I would, at this point, buy the mag solely to read Kamandi every week.

If you're out of the loop on WC, you've gotta get into it.

Even so, you're in for a treat. Read Kamandi and Strange Adventures first, then Sgt. Rock and Deadman. Can't go wrong with Hawkman this week, either.

Well, I actually will read them in the order they are printed, I'm sort of OCD in that way :?

#3 was good, I really like Batman, Deadman, and Strange Adventures, Kamandi's not bad either, and Sgt. Rock's alright, I'm kind of getting let down by Metamorpho, Gaiman (especially in #3) it seems has just been phoning it in
