Kay, so I was debating with someone on whether Spider-man would have been able to save Gwen Stacy if he had dropped off the bridge after her and slowed down rather than trying to catch her with his web.

Basically, I'm turning here because I lack a rudimentary understanding of the laws of physics and Google has failed me. My premise would be that he would be able to accelerate to her level and catch her in mid-air.

DICSUSS

not sure about that last word, but i think it was certainly possible, but the creators had to create some drama.

anyway, there is no way for spider-man to accellerate to faster than terminal velocity, therefore he'd never be able to catch her,

we know for a fact though he could have done it if it were kirsten dunst.

Okay, but my thing is, had she reached terminal velocity? Couldn't he have decreased his air resistance or accelerate himself enough in time to catch her?

Tell me, Mr. Scientist, for I am genuinely curious.

Dicslaimer: I may have no idea what I'm talking about.

probably not but things accellerate at the same rate, the only way he could have caught up is to dive, but we're talking not enough extra speed to catch her.
