You do realize I dislike DKSA right? Also, some of the sin City books weren't all that great.

Allstar Batman and Robin just has a bad rap, it's not amongst Miller's best, but it has a lot of good moments and shows a realistic Batman. I'd actually say it's amongst the most realistic Batman I've read. Think about all the stuff Batman went through, he wouldn't be a normal guy... he would be a little bit rorschach, a little bit Dirty Harry, and a little bit Humphrey Bogart wrapped up in a bat costume.

Or maybe a little...

Mike Hammer!

Good, so you're not COMPLETELY insane :D ! Yet you still defend him and his shittiest work at every turn, nothing personal man, but you talk shit about Alan Moore for less than what Frank Miller does in a single blog post.

Just hit the half-way point on All-Star Batman. Slightly disgusted at the way Black Canary and Wonder Woman were used. The Wonder Woman bit, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I've never been quite into WW mythos, so maybe I'm wrong here but was she ever flat-out sexist? It doesn't seem like it, I get Miller is doing more gritty versions of the characters but it was just bad, writing wise and all. Also I couldn't help but just die laughing when Superman got so pissed at a headline that he blew-away his fucking glasses and all to destroy the paper with his heat vision. It was the silliest. Overall it's fairly directionless.

That all said, in the last issue I read (#5) I really dug Jim Lee's art.

In-case everyone is sick of my complaining, whenever I finish this series I'm on to All-Star Superman :D

Official WCM memo:

Everyone that hasn't read "Bone" by Jeff Smith, will be considered "second-class forumite", effective inmediately.

So say the Feliciano !

Just checking, there's just one 1300 page volume right? That's all I can find, but it's called volume 1 implying there is a volume 2.

"Finished" All-Star Batman, the last issue I read (there's only 10 right?) wasn't too bad... Maybe because it hardly features Batman heh.

Just read Detective Comics #01. The plot is okay though the dialogue is flat for me, I really enjoy the coloring on it. Very artsy, neat stuff.

NO !!! Stay away from that  !

That shit is being drawn and written by Tony "What-the-fuck-is-he-doing-writing-and-drawing-comics" Daniel.

Seriously man, heed Smutty's recommendation, "Batman" by Scott Snyder, or at the very least "Batman & Robin" by Peter J. Tomasi.

I think it's pretty but yeah. I'm giving it at least another issue or two. So far I'm not impressed.

I will indeed adhere to the recommendations of Smutty :D

I like Tony Daniel's art, especially in R.I.P., but yeah, his writing doesn't seem especially fantastic.

I think Detective has been decent, but Batman and Batman and Robin are by far the best two Batbooks (despite The Dark Knight being my surprise like of the DCnU)

yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup

Both are great, but I'm finding Scott Snyder's Batman especially delicious.

The series was collected into 9 volumes, each volume comprising six or seven individual issues. Eventually all 9 volumes were comprised into a giant, single volume. Originally, the volumes were in black and white since the series was a black and white comic, however, once Scholastic started reissuing the series, the books were colorized, and made smaller, and apparently include some slight changes to the story.

Jesus. I know you're joking but why say it? Are you that scared of (being perceived as) being influenced by others?

Got about halfway through #05 of Detective Comics and I think I might quit on it. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Buffalo Bill-type family was just really boring and beyond a few creepy images and ideas, I felt like the whole thing lacked dynamic. It was like someone saw Silence of the Lambs and thought "what if... Batman". Didn't do it for me. I don't think I'm even too concerned about Joker's face at this point.

Also read The Adventures of Tintin: Volume 3 today. Very witty stuff, Hergé's illustrations are gorgeous and his humor is impeccable.

I think you might be misinterpreting my tone there. I'm just joking because it was Feli that told me... and we have some history. I hardly think that's one of the most offensive comments I've made.

I'm actually only buying because of all the good I've heard about it... so the whole purchase is based on influence of others. Relax, AYB...

Am I a bad person for having that collection for at least two years, but not getting past fifty pages because I kept getting distracted?
