Nice little game. Must try the co-op with one of my children. Bags I play Rorschach.

Finally got to play the demo. Mixed feelings.

Graphics, impressive.
Far from raising the bar, but adequate even for your average full-price retail game.

Gameplay, pretty bad.
Straightforward, basic controls but because the game doesn't register your attacks quickly enough, you're left button mashing in frustration.
And maybe it's because I don't play brawlers much, but I couldn't get the hang of the combo system. You'd think clicking the left mouse button four times in a row would be easy but the game just interprets it as four individual attacks. Maybe it's a timing thing but it annoyed me nonetheless.
Also, the game is very linear and the first level consists of going from one area to another meeting a selection of inmates. Even in the few-minute demo I found it repetitive.
Probably the stupidest error was that they didn't put a marker in the centre of the screen. You never know exactly which thug you're attacking, so again you're just left button mashing and hoping you don't get surrounded.
I played as Rorschach and a thing I didn't like was the various moves when you press the heavy attack button - while they looked fine (and Rorschach seems pretty wild like in the comic), it's unsatisfying when you don't know what an attack button will actually do.

Interactions, pretty good.
Voice work was fine apart from one line from Patrick Wilson.
The dialogue wasn't the best, though. It was far too spelled out that Rorschach was an ultra-conservative etc, and that was about all you learned.

Story, can hardly comment from such a short demo but if I was to play through the game it'd be my main focus.

All in all, I'm afraid to say that this is pretty much your average tie-in game, the low price being the only real thing that distinguishes it. In the end, though, when I think of truly great games from the past few years that cost less now, I can't really justify recommending you spend your game money or game hours on this when you can get products better in every area for the same price. From a Watchmen fan perspective, on the other hand, the story might prove more worthwhile.

Almost done downloading. I'll post my review when I'm done with it (heard it's only 2-3 hrs). I've both heard good and bad...

I've played two chapters of the game as Rorschach. The game is pretty much "pick lock/beat up bunch of guys." That's about it. Somebody let me know if this thing gets any better because I just don't see the point of continuing to play.

Cut scenes get really interesting, and I was surprised by the quality of the plot.

did anyone post the IGN review?

http://uk.xboxlive.ign.com/articles/959/959076p1.html

Quote:
8.0 Presentation
A slick style. The cutscenes look great.
9.0 Graphics
One of the best looking downloadable games to date, but the enemy design and animations are poor.
7.5 Sound
The voiceover work is solid and the music is fitting, but the sound effects could use some work.
5.5 Gameplay
A bad version of Streets of Rage. All the rage, none of the fun.
3.0 Lasting Appeal
It lasts two to three hours and there's no reason to ever go back... and it's $20!
5.5
Mediocre OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I'm up to chapter IV. The plot is good, but the gameplay does get a little tiring after a while, it's repetitive, but it's still fun. Just as long as you have a couple of breaks.

I had real fun with this game, and IGN...they're good for finding out things...but their reviews suck. I remember them giving Medal Of Honor:European Assault a good review, and that game sucked. Trying to think of a good game they bashed...

I'm still not sure if I'll buy TEIN or not. If I do it will only be because it is silly and good for passing time.

I liked the presentation (graphics etc), but the game play kills it for me.
I thought the AI was bad, and combat felt slow and repetitive.

IMHO, The End Is Nigh is a good example of what happens when a publisher wants to cash in on a popular franchise, then sticks the developer with all kinds of crazy deadlines and in the end the product suffers. Also, it feels like the QA budget was spent on graphics and voice acting.

I agree with IGN on this one, for the most part.

Downloaded the demo.

I liked it.

It was basically what I expected, and it was pretty fun to play.

I also liked the demo. Will probably buy the game tomorrow after I've seen the movie.
