how much did it cost in total? any chance of a itemised list?

real ammo, i presume... but a real shotgun?

looks great, i'm very impressed. it doesn't look to hard to emulate either!

You are wearing that gear (sans guns?) to the premier, aren't you?

Seriously, you know you want to!

Let me guess your favorite Character? Nite Owl II?

Awesome Costume!

but now I wonder, did you have a gimp mask and the MPAA took it out, or is the Gimp Mask out?

Yea, I meant to talk to you longer about your (far superior) costume the day I saw you at D*Con, (I was the other Comedian) but I was kind of inebriated, so I probably wouldn't have remembered anyway, lol. Still, I would like to know about how you made the costume.

Amazing job, Carl. That has to be the best fan made Comedian costume I've ever seen. I was thinking about dressing as the Comedian for a Halloween party in October(dressing as Rorschach is played out and Manhattan is completely out of the question, obviously) but now I see what I'm up against. That's as good as it gets, man.

I am also curious as to how much that thing cost. Also, what exactly did you use for the shoulder pieces? I know they're not pads because they're obviously made from some type of metal material. Those 2 pieces are the only parts of the costume I would have trouble with.

Great costume. Cant imagine how much effort must have gone into it, but it all seems worth it for that 4th picture alone, there you didnt just get the costume you right, you got his characteristic spot on!

Thanks for all the comments and kind words everyone! I know all the effort was worth it if my fellow WATCHMEN fans think it's alright. 8-)

Here are a couple of "fun with Photoshop" images based on photos from the same shoot:

A little info for those who asked...

I'm not quite sure how much $$ I have in the costume in total, since a lot of the stuff I literally made or customized myself. But there's at least $300 in airsoft guns, holsters, dummy ammo cartridges, etc.

The chest plate is actually a modified piece of Star Wars Stormtrooper armor. I took a chest piece from an old costume I had lying around and cut it. Then I heated it, reshaped it, and painted it black with some layering and added the "greeblies". I also had to had another piece of PVC plastic on the bottom.

The shoulder pauldrons are made from .040 and .080 ABS plastic, actually. Again, I just heated, reshaped and cut them accordingly. I then painted them in layers of metallic auto paint, starting with chrome silver so that it would appear as metal when weathered.

Hope that helps.

The scar can be done quite easily with liquid latex. Just "paint" a line of it where the scar should be and as it dries it should create a scar-like effect.

Wear it to your local premier.

Get to the cinema about 2 hours before the screening and lounge about the bar as Bathrobe Blake, with a glass of scotch.

Top marketing right there, and will lead nicely into the opening scenes :D
