It's loose speculation but it needs bringing up...

Apparently, DC's new senior vice president wants to make Watchmen a franchise* with prequel, sequel and spinoff comics. Which the media chooses to interpret as the possibility of new source material for more movies. I very much doubt WB or other studios would be interested, unless they went the Spidey reboot way and only give it a small budget. Nevertheless, it goes without saying that this is just dumb, and I hope Dave and Alan can do something to stop it. Like assassinate Mr Didio.

*enfranchise is hardly a suitable verb

A couple of years ago, I read Final Crisis, Countdown and 52, and thought "Fuck you Dan Didio".

This is just the icing in the cake.

To be honest, I've always been curious as to what a Watchmen prequel mini-series on Adult Swim/HBO would be like.

ONLY if Dave Gibbons was directly involved and they got the original cast to provide voice-over.

A very appropriate thumbnail you chose there, DDC. Very appropriate...

Only is Alan is involved with the comics. Otherwise, kill me now.

Honestly, even if Moore was involved, I think I'd still be skeptical.

We have to start some kind of DC boycott is this happens.

I still think we should put all our money into tachyon research to teleport a fifth-dimensional cephelapod to the Warner Bros. executive office. Just in case.

Nope. Not for me. There can only be one Watchmen (without spin-offs or sequels), unless Moore and Gibbons had gone with the Minutemen prequel back when they considered it. Of course, this could be a possible method to fan the true fans, and those who jumped on the bandwagon, sort of like what they did at the comic store in Fanboys.

As much as I want to, I"m not about to take the, "OH GOD HOW DARE THEY RUIN SOMETHING SO SACRED!!! route that many fanboys are taking.

However I am highly skeptical of turning Watchmen into a franchise, and odds are it'll be a train wreck. But it'll be one I won't look away from.

Well, it's not going to happen anyway.

Right?

I figure the comics are fairly possible. But I don't think we'll see a new movie based on them, though (not even a direct-to-dvd production). Thankfully.

That said, I have to admit I know curiosity would get the best of me and I'd have to at least take a peek at any books or movies they did come up with. :geek:

If Alan Moore wrote another Watchmen story, be it prequel, sequel, or whatever, I would read it. But I think the chances of that put my answer in the "kill me now" camp.

1. Put money into tachyon research to develop teleportation method.
2. Create fifth-dimensional cephelapod.
3. Teleport it to WB Office, killing executives and stopping Watchmen franchise from existence.
4. ????
5. PROFITS.
