While not exactly a mini-series per se, it's probably still worthy of discussion.

So far, the first back-up was kind of cool, but I'm just waiting to discover what the hell the point of this story is meant to be.

Yeah, the little extra at the end was cool but I didn't really understand it.

It'll probably end up being a foil for the characters in some way, but until then it just feels kind of out of place.

But then again, so did the Black Freighter before its purpose was revealed.

Agreed, I'm kind of anxious about this because when I first read Watchmen it was obviously in tpb form, so I could read as much as I wanted at a time and as such I started to see the TotBF come together faster than I think I would have in the monthly format, and I feel the same will be said about CC.

It's impossible to pass judgement on only two pages. I guess we need to wait and see.

Judging it so far, it feels like disconnected... and it's like "we have to do this pirate thing because Watchmen had it!".

Are we in agreement that the man in CotCC is Rorschach, while the man in TotBF is Veidt?

Well, I definitely agree that the man in TotBF is Veidt, but I still don't know what to think of CotCC.

I guess I'll go by your theory on the CotCC for now, though, unless I get cause to think otherwise.

What if it's Mason?

I still don't understand this.

None of us probably will until it's over.

But that symbol on the Corsair's bandanna makes me think Brooklyn may be right.

Well, he went to pull a mutiny thinking everyone else was with him, then they were all against him and he was sentenced to death by the most powerful person on the ship... sounds familiar.

John Higgins to replace Len Wein on writing the back-up series.

I take it for granted that they have a plan and a point to this thing, but I have to wonder if they even really do.

I can barely be bothered to glance at it now. Just seems pointless. Like a very poor daily newspaper adventure strip. except more gruesomely violent .

They don't. But that's the unwitting "genius" of CotCC... it ultimately mirrors the entire Before Watchmen affair itself.
