Not that great, but not particularly terrible either.

Incidentally, what the hell was the third symbol Captain Metropolis pulled out of the hat?

I read it, and I liked it, it was nice to see Hollis and roschach playing a big part in Dan's origin.

Going to read it soon!

EDIT: Just read it. I really liked it. I especially liked the flashbacks with Rorschach, this is my favorite one yet.

Really want to find a store that sells these. It just doesn't cut it reading it on the computer. :(

It was fine, but you know what's lame?

Really heavy handed and unnecessary references to things like Rorschach's mask.

I enjoyed it. More than Comedian and SS.

I'd put this and Minutemen at the top for now.

Also, this Crimson Corsair story gets more and more interesting, although I'm gonna start skipping out on it until the entire story is told.

Also also, not sure what you're getting at ziller, this is an origin story, there's gonna be tons of references (the partnership beginning, the owl cave, all of it).

The only reference I remember is the card that captain metropolis gave him or something.

What are the other ones?

I was thinking of the two old ladies walking by and randomly talking about the material Rorschach's mask will be made from.

It's just so tacky and shoved in there whereas Watchmen was glorious in some of its subtlety.

I really don't think one line in one panel is a heavy handed reference... especially when it was such a throw away line. I would wager most people just read that and thought first of Dr. M and how a Dr. M fabric would be Blue or something and forgot about Rorschach's mask... remember, not every one is as obsessed with Watchmen as we are.

Oh, please. You can like the issue, but don't shrug that off. It's so obvious that it hurts. They talk about how the fabric changes with body temperature. And it's not worked into dialogue or anything, it's just shoved onto random foreground characters.

brooklyn is definitely right, you'd have to be as nerdy as us to really catch all the little things.

That wasn't little or subtle in the slightest. It'd smack you in the face if you'd only read Watchmen once thirty years ago.

Ziller, we only know that fabric was used to make Rorschach's mask because we've read the book countless tiems (I know I've read it over 20) lines like that are going to be as obvious as the double "r". You have to remember we're dealing with something that not everybody obsesses over. Like when The Avengers came out, there were a ton of people who had no idea who Thanos was, but to comic fans it was relly obvious. The same principle can be applied here. Just because a group is really familiar with the source text so any allusion seems like a neon sign... that doesn't mean EVERYBODY thought it was incredibly obvious. It's no better/worse than any other easter egg in other comics.

but if Watchmen fanboys are the only ones who'd catch it, why not make it more subtle, more integrated?
Have not read it yet btw, but I get what Ziller is saying.
