Does anyone else sometimes wish the whole entire GN had been made into some kind of episodic thing? As much as I realise it's probably a bad idea, it would have been cool to see all the back stories on film.
Thanks for the link to the Hamm script by the way. Readin' it now. I think it would have been pretty cool. There was an article on Total Film this month on what films they think should have been TV series, and one of them was Watchmen.

Yeah, something like that! Maybe twelve seperate hour long episodes for each issue. What do we think would have been the good and bad points about that idea?

I don't know why people keep saying that it should've been a TV series or something that's more episodic. I honestly don't think it would've really worked unless it had a bunch of money sunk into it for the sake of production quality, which is highly unlikely. I think that the movie we got is probably the best adaptation of it we're ever going to get. It's true to the book and many of its themes, it flows well (although there a few people who will dispute this) and, I think most importantly, it mirrors reading the novel in the sense that it is an experience. No matter what you have to say about the movie, you cannot deny that you'd never really seen anything like it before and that you're not likely to see anything like it again. Even though it's extremely true to the book, it's a highly original movie and it saddens me that more people don't appreciate it more.

Had Watchmen been adapted into a miniseries, each episode would pretty much be the entire chapter of the book (like the motion comic), and nothing would be left out. That's why Mr. Gilliam and plenty of other people think that's the way it should have been done.

Ultimate Cut's all I need. *Puts on shades and drives into the sunset*

That's why I need the UC. And the DC. I'm getting them for Christmas but that's too far away. I'm sure I'll take back the miniseries thing once I see the Ultimate version. 215 minutes....

Hey I just realized that this thread is actually longer than the Sexiest Male Watchmen Star thread.
Apparently a lot of questions don't merit their own threads like a lot of fan girls like to talk about Jackie Earle Haley in a suggestive manner.

A 12-part 30 minute long episode mini-series seems kinda pointless now, since we have the motion comics. Anyway there is no way they would be able to fund it. Band of brothers had a budget of 110 million, but then again a show like has a bigger audience. Also Watchmen would need a way bigger budget since it has more special and visual effects.

Here's something for the WATCHMEN purist.
Although the movie Hardwired looks like crap, parts of it were filmed on the WATCHMEN backlot. I'm going to see the movie at some point just for these shots, but there are some glimpses of the backlot in the trailer if anyone is curious.
There's a car accident early in the trailer across the street from where the newsstand was and there's a shot of Cuba Gooding Jr. getting some kind of brain cramp and slamming against the wall of Rafael's where Dan and Laurie dine. Maybe he wanted the four-legged chicken and it was sold out. Ha! There's also the "cold" alley where Rorschach waxes about the night being generous to him. This is also the alley where Dan and Laurie fight the Knot Tops.
Also, apparently, in the making of doc, they mention that they are filming on the WATCHMEN set and there could be a shot or two.
So, if you're curious, check it out. But be warned, I say again the movie looks like crap! Even for a straight to DVD release.
Apparently the set was also used for Cats and Dogs 2! There's another winner...
