We've got the six major parts cast, we've got the senior incarnations of Silk Spectre and Nite Owl and we've probably got a few real-life figures in the movie.

Now who's missing? More importantly, which characters absolutely have to be kept for the movie, and who should play them?

Moloch is a given, but I have trouble coming up with a good unknown actor who's the right age. Stephen McHattie would be perfect, but he's already spoken for.

Then there's Malcolm. I'm wrestling with how important he is, but given his status as a window into Rorschach's past, I'd say he should probably be included. My pick to play him would be Bill Duke, a character actor who's relatively low-key, despite immeasurable talent and a mile-long resume.

Of course, including Malcolm would mean including his wife. Unfortunately, I'm drawing blanks on that one.

Big Figure could probably be squeezed in there, too. I'd support Peter Dinklage to play him.

Then there's Hector Godfrey, Seymour, both of the Bernies... maybe Max Shea and the two detectives as well. And I haven't the slightest idea who could or would play any of them.

So, did I forget anyone? Any good casting ideas out there?

I wouldn't mind it at all if the rest of the cast were to be filled out with unknowns.

From what I can glean elsewhere at other boards that have been discussing the movie for quite some time now, many of the supporting characters of the comics are missing in various drafts of the screenplay that some seem to have gotten hold of.

I'm reading that the Bernies make the briefest of appearances, Dr Long's home life has been shed along with his wife, the lesbians along with the cab co. guys and Rolex hawker aren't mentioned as individual characters (although could still be appearing as extras) and, most tellingly of all, no-one concerned in the creation of Veidt's 'alien' appears (mainly Shea and Hira Manish) on account of the fact that the movie has DROPPED the hoaxed alien attack and is instead using a different catastrophe devised by Veidt. Allegedly.

I expect many of the anonymous background cast from Dawn of the Dead and 300 will get the call up, or the local extras business in and around Vancouver will be a busy place to be right now.

Where is everyone getting all of these script details? Is it just forum heresay? How reputable are the sources? How do we know most of it is not just outright rumor?

Its just that there's a lot of talk on this board of "Well, that scene is omitted from the script," or "this character is not in the script." Fill me in.

I've set up this thread: (http://www.watchmencomicmovie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17&p=89#p89) for just such an occasion.

I always thought Malcom the shrink should be played by that guy from DIE HARD and from TV's FAMILY MATTERS... Reginald VelJohnson .
