I thought the red lens filter was a good idea, and I'm surprised nobody else has thought of it yet. I'm not crazy about the music, and I agree with AYB, it would have benefited from some dialog. Also, it's about a minute too long for my taste.

Thanks for the feedback... I'll take it all into account for the final one.

I PM'd you the isolated audio from the 1st 2 trailers that I used, Dog Carcass. And here's the link to the featurette dialogue AYB provided a few pages back:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z542QK70

Good luck!

Thanks so much! My goal is to create the ultimate Watchmen fan trailer OF ALL TIME. We'll see how I do. Post things you would like to see/hear... song recommendations... pacing, effects... anything!

Now... does anyone perchance have the isolated dialogue from the trailers?
As in... just the dialogue with no music?

that is pretty impossible all we can do is lower the background music and keep the talking at normal volume

A google search for 'Watchmen font' will bring you the answer you seek on this very forum.

P.S. I've just finished what is by far my best trailer, which I modelled on this one
It's uploading now...!

Taxi Driver. Nice!. I think you should have stuck with the Taxi Drive score for the whole trailer, though.

I thought about it...the (brilliant) score to that film had its advantages and disadvantages. There are lots of pauses in every track, so it means you can almost seamlessly join together any bits of any track you want (just like the film's trailer), but it also means that you hear lots of background noise/original music when you use dialogue and sound effects.

In the end I went with a song from the Kill Bill vol 2 soundtrack ("A Silhouette of Doom")...the transition between the tracks isn't nearly as smooth, but it replicates one of the best bits of Zack's official theatrical trailer: the dramatic end to the music as Rorschach says "No."...and of course the sound clips seem more at home...

Ultimately I think what Soup implied on the comments page was right: it seemed like two intros to a Rorschach TV show shoved together...not perfect but a better effort, wouldn't you agree?

That was amazing, AYB. The Taxi Driver Soundtrack fit perfectly.

Ignoring the background noise, that was very good imo. Suitably epic music...
Could've used some sound effects though

My Trailer:
watchmen.dv - 499.88MB

I did this in the old version of iMovie. The audio sucks cuz I didn't know how to fix the dialogue parts. Can someone please tell me how to fix the audio and revise the video overall? Thanks.

Umm...could you possibly upload to youtube? That's quite a big download you're asking of us...

I know it's a little long for a TV spot, so think of it as some kind of special commercial aired during a big event that lasts a little longer than usual. Yes, the dialogue is still a bit suckish, but I am a bit proud of the beginning, which is supposed to resemble the actual murder scene rather than the fight we get in the movie.

Oh, and be sure to watch it in HD when the option becomes available.

EDIT: This is the trailer currently winning The Cortex's contest, and I can see why. I'm currently messing with Vegas to see if I can replicate the effect he has going of zooming in on things in the shots.

Really? Frankly I thought that was retarded... he's got the timings down exactly (and it works well in the first 18 seconds and at the very end) but for the most part it looks like it was made by an ADD kid on crack. The worst part was the mutilated shot of Rorschach in the window. If I had entered the Cortex's competition, I would be very upset to be losing to a piece of well-edited, poorly-thought-out crap like that.
