One more notch on my belt. I always learn new things from seeing the film again- that is, the ultimate director's cut- the only version I watch. Would like to get some insight on the Black Frieghter from you folks- what is it an analogy of?

*high fives an unwilling jmpet for preferring the Ultimate Cut*

Btw, our forum's own little fan cut, constructed lovingly by AYB, isn't half bad either.

Anyway, I'd say the protagonist in Black Freighter is an analogy for Adrian and what he has to do and become.

That's the predominant theory, even from the book, though I haven't seen the Ultimate Cut.

Burgers N Borscht (a guy who used to frequent this forum) once did a really really really long post pointing out all the analogues between Black Freighter and Adrian.
I'm just too lazy to find the post.

I thought that was a pretty universal theory
