Fuck that guy at Warner Bros. They needed to keep the smoking is, that was the WHOLE POINT of Laurie trying to find the lighter in the Owlship!

One of the very few concessions the film made to Hollywood. I'm just glad it was a nitpicky thing and not something major.

I hate smoking as well. When I saw fight club I thought he looked llike a moron because he was smoking.

I think in the scene with Hollis, there was an ashtray on the table. You did not see him smoking thou. Not sure have to see it again.

I havent clicked the link to the article ut i'm just going to assume it's the same one i have read.

It's just apart of the imagery of the film really, isnt it. I dont feel it took from lauries character at all.

It wasnt trying to convey a message about smoking, it was just trying to use smoking as a tool. Comediens the one who smokes, he's the 'bad cop' sorta guy. It made laurie seem maybe even more innocent, and the comedian as one bad ass motherfucker.

(...I'm not saying smoking's bad ass. I dont smoke)

Well I smoke ocassionally and I can say that no movie makes me do it but over the top stress and instead of yelling at my overbearing superiors and losing my job (wich I cannot afford) I take five minutes go to the park and make sure I don't feel like killing them before solving whatever issue they have with work, wich is usually nothing just feeling like yelling at the closest target aka ME.

Is really insane to think that people don't have a choice about this I know is not good for me in the long run but I choose to worry about it later and take my chances for now it will also be my choice when I found another quick fix for stress and no one telling me "that thing will kill you" will take that choice away from me in the same vein that watching Sally smoking is going to make me want to smoke after a nice christmas party with my family since I'm very happy and relaxed after those.

I think Hollywood thing people are really morons and get influenced by everything is also kind of sad that harrasing smokers is what the cool kids do nowadays; we are becoming a minority a chased one and I sincerily think that sometimes taking give minutes for a cigarrette can save a lot of people of going insane and shooting everyone around...About the movie I don't really cared that much except for the fact that it was a nice touch that Laurie smoked like his father did one minor detail linkin them....There was nothing like it on the movie, sadly.
