If I remember correctly, two of the three scripts for Watchmen had Ozymandias dying and Rorschach living.

This is why I can't believe my eyes when I see the comments "Snyder fucked up Watchmen!"

I totally understand die-hards not liking the movie, not being satisfied, or not agreeing with every decision Snyder made. But I don't see how a die-hard could be angry with Snyder and think he screwed it up. However you feel about the movie, you have to admit that it's shocking that it wasn't SO much worse.

Yup, pretty much the truth right there.

I personally prefer the squid, but I can't really say the "Manhattan Attack" is bad, it actually made sense and it even worked symbolically (sp).

I think this ending is brilliant. They should've done this.

A squid would have looked a bit stupid on screen though imo, so Snyder did the best he could with the material I think. And great article.

squid could have been reimagined to look different. or not have a physical presence atall. they could have written in the artists creating scary stuff, have some sort of veidt tech beam it into peoples heads, and a psychic wave killing people, all centred around some sort of explosion,

the squid is kind of unrealistic in that they could have just done a DNA test, and realised "this is made of terrestrial DNA"

I think the Squid ending would work in a television series, because there would be time to build up to it. It seems unlikely that such a series would ever have been supported for long enough to survive to the end however.

The flawed premise and make it up as they go along twaddle of LOST is pretty much the high point of anything remotely like a Watchmen series, which is tragic because done similarly to the film a Watchmen series would possibly, if allowed to run its first year, gathered a Doctor Who-esque following.

Anyway, not going to happen.

The Watchmen itself would work better as a television series than a movie.

I didn't meant it that way. More like:

The "Watchmen" itself (...)

Just so you know "Watchmen itself (...)" would work better... you meant THE watchmen.

No. Actually I thought "Wachmen itself (...)" needed a "the" (in this case) before it. But then again, I'm not a native english-speaker.
