Well, it looks like WATCHMEN got shut out at the Scream Awards. No surprise as everyone knows that Twilight is flat out better. Sheesh! Good to see a REAL movie clean up. What a joke!

Not surprising though. Does anyone know if WATCHMEN picked up ANY awards?

Maybe this will prove my apparently radical theory that the general public didn't like Watchmen.

The awards aren't until Oct. 27th, Guard.

EDIT: Wait, scratch that.

Let's see here... well, Star Trek beat out Twilight for Best Picture. There's a surprise.

And Watchmen... well, at least it won Best Comic Book Movie. I find that a more appropriate victory than Best Fantasy Movie, anyway. Especially against Twilight, which is fantasy and nothing but.

So yeah, I'm seeing an awful lot of love here for Twilight, True Blood and Transformers. This shouldn't exactly be a shock. We knew from the outset that their numbers were greater than ours and we knew that this awards show is pretty much bullshit. If nothing else, at least we tried.

Additionally, it's worth noting that quite a few awards haven't been reported here. The awards for Best Superhero, Best Mutilation, Holy Shit Scene and Fight to the Death are nowhere to be seen in this article.

I saw this same line of thinking regarding the Taylor Swift/Kanye West incident--"It's a stupid MTV awards show! Who cares?!" Well, it is an awards show, even if it's not the most prestigious, and winning an award there is still something to be proud of.

Watchmen is going to get shunned and shut out of every single awards show for the rest of the season. Be prepared for it, and be happy it was even nominated at the Scream Awards.

Twilight deserves these awards much more than Watchmen. It's a much more appropriate film for general audiences than Watchmen. (Which is another way of saying it sucked)

Agreed. With all this Twilight-y shit, I'm sure Bela Lugosi is spinning in his grave. Vlad the Impaler too.

There's absolutely nothing to be proud of for winning an MTV award or a Scream award. Just means your movie was probably a terrible comedy, a terrible fantasy or just a terrible movie in general. I'm a bit embarrassed that Watchmen was even nominated. But they also nominated The Dark Knight last year, so maybe they have a tiny sense of good film making(doubtful).

Well at least Watchmen won the most sensible (and easiest) for it to win (Best Comic Book film)

I was hoping some quality films would standout over the crap (Twilight) and for he most part, while Twilight is taking a number of them, there are a few surprises so far, namely Star Trek for Ultimate Scream & Sci-Fi and Drag Me to Hell for Best horror.

The only one that still makes my head shake is Megan Fox winning for Best Sci-Fi actress. Not to mention Isabel Lucas winning Breakthrough. I'll give her credit, while Twilight is shit, at least Kristen Stewart is actually a good actress when given a good role (Adventureland).

There are still some awards yet to be announced, so we'll see...

Keep in mind that these awards are 100% fan chosen, so the fact that Watchmen beat out Wolverine for best comic book movie thrills me to no end. I'm glad the average fan sees that it was the better choice.

Now all I want is for Haley to win for Best Superhero, and for Veidt vs. Blake to win Best Fight to the Death scene. I think even the average fan can see that Watchmen absolutely deserves those two awards.

The rest, who cares...

the average fan also realized that Wolverine was a complete piece of shit (save a few things) once they saw it.

I just checked Wikipedia and I would not rely on them for info just yet. It's got Wolverine listed as Comic Book Movie winner when it's already been reported Watchmen won...

I agree. Winning this type of award is like winning a raspberry. No thanks.

By the way, your signature pic is interesting. "The Comedienne" in your sig is totally hot. I love it when the ladies relate to a male character. My daughter wants to be Lestat this Halloween. At 11, she's a book junkie. I love that she reads. Not sure how I feel about the Halloween thing. :)

Wolverine is a great character, but too often the writers don't give him a great story in which to dwell... The reason is that they do not fathom that story and character are the same integrated process. Character is only revealed through story... Story is only told through character.

Haley deserves the award for his death scene alone which was so intelligent that it informed my own view of the comic book scene. The error was that Zack saw fit to include Nite Owl in the scene... which compromised three characters.

Dan should not see Rorschach die, followed immediately by Laurie smooching Jon... and then Dan's OK with seeing Jon kill his partner and then, seconds later, open mouth tongue smooch his girlfriend... with her being a willing participant... and then he actually gives her a lift back to NYC. Fuck her! If she wants the Cyan Lion, then she can't have the Cooter Hooter. She gets to stay in Karnak... Enjoy the minty fresh weather, Slutty Smurf.

Yeah.... well, it's the Spike Awards. You were expecting the president to throw out the first pitch?

I agree. Winning this type of award is like winning a raspberry. No thanks.

By "raspberry," are you referring to the Golden Raspberry Awards? If so, then I respectfully disagree.

A vote for a Golden Raspberry award is a vote of condemnation, while a vote for a Scream Award is a vote of approval. However, Hollywood actually participates in and pays attention to the Razzies while the Scream Awards are decided by people who -- by and large -- have no power in Hollywood and haven't seen a movie older than the original Star Wars.

Razzies are given out as signs of universal malediction and the Scream Award results are signs of inconsequential praise. In this way, winning a Scream Award is actually the polar opposite of winning a Razzie. In fact, winning a Scream Award is like winning a plain, actual raspberry: It's nice to have one, but what really comes of it?
