seeing that he is the most popular of the characters, would you want a movie with just him in it?
like it could talk about the first year Walter became Rorshach.

RORSHACH BEGINS :P

Hell no.

No Watchmen sequels, prequels or spin-offs. Period.

You weren't the first to have this thought and you won't be the last.

Still, this would be a very bad idea. As project said earlier, there's really nothing more to add. Any attempt to add onto Watchmen would inevitably detract from it, rather than add to it. Leave well enough alone.

While I don't particularly want to see one, I reject the notion that a spinoff movie or prequel would somehow "detract" from WATCHMEN itself.

There was a time when I felt a movie, let alone a prequel or spin-off, would somehow detract from Watchmen.

The movie's come and almost gone, and I don't feel a bit different regarding the book.

I would only want it if Alan Moore did what Frank Miller is doing with the 300 sequel: To write a script/GN so that a movie can be about His work.
Alan Moore writing a storyboard for Zack Snyder? Forget about it.
No.

Although I would never turn down any Rorschach footage of the sort...

I think JEH himself put it best when it comes to Watchmen prequels or spin-offs:

"Only if it's a musical."

Personally, no. But I did like what they did with the storyline in "The End is Nigh" game. Okay, it wasn't a GREAT gameplay, but the story was top-notch. Of course, that's just me.

Only if Alan Moore wrote the script and he won't ever do that so no.

He won't do it because he knows if you give people that much they'll get a taste for it. They'll want more. They may want one for every main character and if you hand people everything on a plate, show every moment of every characters' past no one has to wonder, investigate, speculate, do what we do here.

One of the reasons Rorschach is popular is because he is also complex and somewhat mysterious.

That touch of enigma is one of the things I like most about Watchmen and I don't want it to go away.

With songs of that calibre, how could it fail?
