Hey guys, I'm new to register on this site, but I've been a very frequent visitor and am a huge fan of Watchmen, presumably like everybody else here.

My one question is...has anybody had a problem with the Director's Cut Blu-Ray? The day I bought it, I was watching it on my laptop, and when I bought a PS3, I played it on that, too. One day, my PS3 suddenly had troubling reading the disc, which was odd, but it still worked, after much clicking and whirring. THEN came the day where the disc would not read at all. Not in my PS3, not in my laptop. The disc is in absolute PRISTINE condition, and there is no cut or anything on the disc. I am completely and utterly perplexed that neither Blu-Ray players can read it. I've never had a DVD or Blu-Ray crap out on me (even my Sin City DVD worked, and that disc was through hell and back, lol). So, please, if anybody can help me out on this one, I would very greatly appreciate it.

Mine works fine last time I checked so I'm of no use. I'm not even good at technical stuff so I can't tell you why the disc might not be working.

Good luck with that.

Have you tried playing the disc on a third player for confirmation that it is indeed a problem with the disc and not with your PS3 or laptop?

Do you have firmware updates for either of your players the way you do with stand-alone players? Seeing as how the disc played at one time, I don't see how this could be your problem, though.

You're absoutely sure there are no subtle or tiny scratches on the disc preventing it from playing properly? It really doesn't take much to screw one up.

I'd inform whoever you bought the Blu-Ray from. It could be a defected copy.

Or you could be a crazy person. Have you considered that? Have you considered that you might be the one that's busted?

Think about it.

This is perfectly plausible, Godziller. On the other hand, maybe you should ask yourself the same question. How do we know this entire thread is not a figment of your diseased brain? MAYBE YOU ARE JON897. Do you even own a PS3 Godziller/Jon897?

Get help.

......ooook. So, in review:

- Doesn't have a SINGLE scratch on it (I'm serious, not ONE)

- Both my laptop and PS3 are fully updated

- I bought it down in the United States (I live in Canada), and I can't bring it back to Wal-Mart even if I tried, because they informed me that they don't carry the Director's Cut anymore (or any version of the film for that matter)

So I guess I can try the 3rd player, or just buy the Ultimate Cut, which I saw in the mall, but that's my last resort, because we all know how atrocious the ToTBF/Director's Cut splicing was.

Well, in that case, it sounds like you have a very expensive new coaster for your cocktails. I recommend a nice whiskey sour, unless it's a good whiskey, in which case I recommend a delicious mug of whiskey. With enough of those, you'll have a good time no matter which version is playing. I guarantee it.

I shall enjoy the Theatrical Cut on Digital Copy for the rest of time.

Just rob a drifter and buy a new one.

Disclaimer: Godziller does not condone the robbing of drifters.

have you checked the printed side for scratches? most people forget that damage to the printed side, although rarer, can prevent a disc playing,

i rented a blu-ray from LoveFilm not long ago, that had been visually certified as OK, but there was a massive scratch on the printed side, obviously missed because who thinks to check the printed side? but it still made the BD completely not work.
it's because for the BD to work it needs the reflective backing to act as a base-line for reading the data, without the rflective backing, you might aswell have a hole in the disc.

If you're into the whole "buy locally" thing, I'm really only familiar with the larger brand names of Canadian whiskey (Canadian Club, Seagram's, etc.) and I, unfortunately, can't recommend them. Pretty gross. Any whiskey made in Kentucky, though, I can wholeheartedly recommend. It's really the only thing they do well, and is worth any extra price incurred.

I'm sorry, your point flew over my head. Not that it was directed at me, anyway.

Coincidentally, here is a thing that people in Kentucky do: Breed Rottweilers. Because that is a thing people need. Here is an AWARD-WINNING ROTTWEILER named Godzilla, which is the coincidental part.

Tenuously on topic, I love Netflix, but their Blu-ray discs suuuckk. I never received one that would play. Every other thing about Netflix is awesome, though, and I highly recommend them.
