I watched the movie and I must say, it is not what Iw as expecting...I mean in a bad way. I understand that comics and movies are two entirely different mediums but still the movie cut a lot for the content was cut out. Everything felt rushed, the characters weren't entirely in character and it just felt like some superhero movie with darker underpinnings. Some key scenes such as the Rorschach interrogation wans't handled too well, some minor characters such as Hollis Mason, Malcom Long, Captain Metropolis and Hooded Justice weren't explored at all, Dr. Manhattan sounds like some wimpy teenager and not a detached entity, it lacks some of the moral ambiguity that made the comic so great and the characters felt extremely derailed. I know you cannot please everyone and you are going to lose some people as the watch the movie, it definitely lost me.

I don't like the way the movie was handled, Zack Snyder really needs to layoff the '300' thing less. I really hated how they handled Veidt, they made him look like a complete monster villain with an equally flat personality but I'll take it a step further, the whole ending was handled very poorly. Dan of all characters calls out Veidt at the ending, the whole Sally/Jon arc was handled poorly and Rorschach is obviously portrayed the same way V was in V for Vendetta movie. To sum things up, I really don't like the movie and Snyder should had left the graphic novel alone.

You should watch the DC (or maybe the UC as some have recommended) it's much less chaotic than the theatrical cut, it's MUCH better paced, it has some scenes that were absolutely necessary even in the comic itself, and it feels much MUCH more intimately tied with the original story, there's a lot of shit one can make up for when you add an extra half-hour.

Here's how I look at it...

Is the movie as interesting as the book? No. But is it an interesting movie? Yes.
Does the story work as well as it does in the book? No. But does it work well? Yes.
Do the themes come through as powerfully as they do in the book? No. But do they come through powerfully? Yes.

You seriously haven't seen the movie until just now? Seriously?

Seriously now? It better at least have been the director's or ultimate cut. We should banish this guy. Can we do that? I bet we can totally do that.

That's entirely up to me, and we're not banning members because they didn't immediately see the film. We should be more open to newcomers, in point of fact.

I wouldn't say I love it. It does have some flaws (a few performances are weak, and the ending doesn't deliver the emotional punch it's fishing for). But I like it. I admire it.

I went into the theater wanting it to be the superhero movie that changed the whole genre forever and then swept the Oscars. It's not that. It's not revolutionary, or ground-breaking, or the next Blade Runner. It's just an interesting movie, that's all. It's something worth seeing and discussing, but probably nothing to write home about.

Different opinions I guess, while it's certainly flawed in several aspects I still find it as good, if not better, than The Dark Knight, just to mention an example.

It's definitely a better movie than The Dark Knight

Watchmen has aged better than Dark Knight. But DK is a more satisfying film.
