I disagree, and I don't even like the watchmen movie that much

All The Dark Knight has was Heath Ledger - that's all. The script and the story were bad. The movie had brief kinetic action sequences followed by boring, convoluted exposition. It took all of my willpower to not shut it off midway.

I know the same could be said of Watchmen, but let me remind you I liked Batman Begins, so I was onboard with the reboot, actors and general tone that was establised, and The dark Knight left me empty.

I disagree, although I think begins was better, and TDK wasn't as good as everyone still makes it out to be, I think the story was very nolan-esque=layered.
The action was well paced as was the character exposition.
But it was definitely overhyped.

I prefer Watchmen over very nearly every other comic book movie.

My favorites besides Watchmen are:
Blade II
Hellboy
Iron Man
Spider-Man
Superman II
The Incredible Hulk
and
X2

Wow, there's a thread for this. And for the same reason, I believe.

Anyway, I prefer TDK by a long shot. Of course, Watchmen is my favorite comic-based movie and triumphs over all others, in my opinion.

The Dark Knight should have been called The Dark Joker. Now I like the movie a lot, don't get me wrong. But, take the Joker out of it and there's not much else there. Bale with that stupid Batman voice faded into the background as Heath Ledger stole the spotlight. Deservedly so. I'm convinced that if he was still alive, the movie would not have been as big as it turned out to be. And this is from a fan of the film: it's no masterpiece. Very, very good. With an incredible performance from Ledger. That's about it.

WATCHMEN is a movie I never get tried of watching. I don't sit and watch the whole thing every time I'm in the mood to see it. Sometimes I just revisit favorite scenes. Given that, I've still seen the entire film more times than I've seen any other superhero movie, including Dark Knight.

None of the others, good and bad, have the breadth of WATCHMEN. Sure, I love the Spider-Man movies, the first Iron Man, The Dark Knight and the first half of Batman Begins and personally can't say enough good about Unbreakable (even if it wasn't a comic) but WATCHMEN is the pinnacle for me. I've yet to see one better. Maybe one day but not so far.

The fuck is up with people just bringing up TDK on a whim now? Did I happen to go back in time to 2008?

sigh, forget it. We have a thread for this.

Indeed. I merged most of the TDK-related posts into that thread. Getting back to Watchmen...

Maybe I should be banned for not watching the movie since it came out in the theatres. Took a long while to get over my disappointment over the handling of the ending. Felt (and still does!) like a cop-out.

We have a bluray player, but I honestly couldn't be bothered to wade through any of the subsequent cuts of Snyder's story.

funny enough, i've recently had the urge to go back and watch the DC

but at the same time i don't want to sit through a 3 hour movie right now unless it's either apocalypse now or the godfather.

Well.. I'm watching it now and as (originally first and foremost) a Batfan I think that TDK was a wonderful film, however it has its flaws and the Watchmen movie is actually growing on me a lot more. It's a lot more watchable for me personally and I feel like I can watch it over and over without it "getting old" so quickly.

Awesome, a new member that isn't a spam bot, and British! I thought I'd be a alone forever since AYB left.

Anyway, welcome to the forums.
