Thinking about the movie set in 1985 with the Keene act passed in what- 1977?? This really makes Rorcharch an outcast. Sure he met with other heroes once and again but for the most part he ran the streets looking for trouble.

I think Alan Moore put it best:

"The man has a king-sized deathwish".

Just watched The Punisher, 2004 with John Travolta. 100% Rorscarch ripoff including dialogue... can pass as Rorscarch activities pre-1985, would reccomend all bear this in mind and see movie.

Pretty sure the dialogue in the movie copies The Punisher more than it does Watchmen.

I have seen Watchmen enough times to declare this is a direct ripoff of Rorscarch. Evidence is seen in the film.

I have seen both enough times to know that you're wrong.

Both are men. Both are vigilantes. Both are characters that originated in a comic.
But no.
Thomas Jane's Punisher came out before the Watchmen film.
By like 4-5 years.
And I've read the entire run that Punisher film was based on.
No Rorschach Rip-offs to be found.

If there are any overlapping bits of dialog or anything, it was unintentional.
"Rip-off" sounds intentional. Why would they try and rip off a character from Watchmen? Whats the point?
And is there even a reason to draw a comparison?

Btw its Rorschach. Not Rorscarch.
And pointing out the fact he's a loner is like pointing out the fact he wears a hat.
Its painfully obviously.

Okay, it's easy to clear this matter up with very little fanfare.

No.

Also, even though The Punisher film clearly isn't a rip-off of Rorschach, I feel it's a fallacy to argue that to be the case because the movie came out before Watchmen.

Watchmen was out in 1985, remember, guys?

well it sounded like he was comparing movie to movie.
And to make the point that the 2004 Punisher film ripped off a character from the Watchmen comic, that came out in 1985, sounds even more ludicrous to me.

Wheres the common ground between a 2004 Punisher film and the Watchmen comic made in 1985?

Moral of the story is that Watchmen was released from 1986 to 1987. Yet Punisher (and other vigilante types had come before) so couldn't one argue that Rorschach's dialogue was a shout out to characters like Punisher, and not the other way around?

That makes sense.
Lots of characters can clearly be seen IN the Watchmen characters.

Comedian reminds me of like... the Joker + Captain America + The Punisher
Nite Owl is like... Clark Kent/Batman
Rorschach is like... Batman + The Punisher + The Question
And I think Dr.Manhattan can pretty much be compared to the reality of a character like Superman

So yeah.

Fair enough. I thought about mentioning Ted Kord.
But I'm not in the business of sucking up to people.

How is that sucking up to anybody? If DC hadn't stopped Moore Ted Kord would have been in Watchmen (or whatever the title would have been)
