Quote:
In the midst of life we are in death: of whom may we seek for succour, but of thee, O Lord, who for our sins art justly displeased? Yet, O Lord God most holy, O Lord most mighty, O holy and most merciful Saviour, deliver us not into the bitter pains of eternal death.
Thou knowest, Lord, the secrets of our hearts; shut not thy merciful ears to our prayer; but spare us, Lord most holy, O God most mighty, O holy and merciful Saviour, thou most worthy judge eternal, suffer us not, at our last hour, for any pains of death, to fall from thee.

Directly quoted from the Book of Common Prayer used exclusively by the Episcopal Church.

Is this taken from the original book?

Hard for me to picture that he is an Anglican. From my perspective, his cynicism, aggresive behavior and strange sense of humor made him an every-bit Roman Catholic.

I find it's funny to picture everyone's theology. Adrian could be very much a practical Communist like Stalin or Mao, Daniel might straying between a Lutheran and a presbyterian calvinist (I can't see the reason that he is a Jewish), and Rorschach seems trying so hard to become the Jesus of himself.

Update: I got further interesting discoveries, the website:
http://www.comicbookreligion.com/?start ... n=Catholic
indicated that Blue Beetle and Captain Atom are both Catholic, high Catholicism density detected!

Is it possible that this is a standard passage used in military funerals when the religion of the deceased is not known?

Dan Dreiberg not a Jew? The name, the stereotypes, he's the epitome of them!

Well, his religion is never really hinted at, but I'm pretty sure it's implied he's jewish

He's either jewish or more likely an atheist. I suspect atheism is a lot more popular in a post Dr Manhattan world anyway.

He's clearly Jewish in lineage, I don't even think he has a religion.

Why? Isn't Manhattan proof that omnipotent beings exist? I'm sure there were plenty Manhattan cults that sprang up around the world

I'm also sure there were plenty of superhero comic books in the Watchmen universe.

proof that they can exist is not proof that they do exist, and like Jon says, he's not god and if there was a God he's nothing like Him.

Dan is a smart guy, an engineer and believer in justice, and a believer in humanity but not much else, i just don't think that kind of person is going to be religious, even if they are of Jewish descent, he's a doubter by nature, and not just knowing of Jon, but actually knowing him personally, i really think that he would have no faith in any higher being. if anything i'd put him down as a Secular Humanist.
