All I know is that I love Shaun Of The Dead and Beavis and Butthead.

I just flat out don't like it. I find it very overrated, and as decent a show I'm sure it is at times, it never appealed to me whatsoever. You're entitled to your own opinion, and I'm entitled to mine.

You weren't supposed to like that scene, you know.

Not what he was asking

I'm sorry, I just assumed he was asking how I thought it was overrated.

What are you talking about? The Grice scene I was talking about earlier?

I'm sensing some kind of hostility here; did I do something wrong? It wasn't my intention to try and badmouth anyone, I was just stating my opinion and trying to hold my ground. If anything I said came across as inflammatory or insulting to other members, I honestly apologize.

I was but you didn't really explain why you thought it was overrated. You just said you didn't like it.

It worked.

I can't comment too much on the writing in detail, since I don't remember any specific lines that turned me off. However, when I focus on the characters, I've concluded that Hank Hill seems to represent some sort of "everyman", and in many ways that goal is attained. However, just because that character may represent an accurate portrayal of some people doesn't necessarily make him humorous. His deadpan voice and demeanor does not incite laughter, rather it bores me. The same can be said about Peggy, Bobby, and the other characters. They seem more like uninspired caricatures than anything else. Four men standing around drinking beer over and over isn't funny to me. I can't identify - beer disgusts me, and my level of ADD would eventually drive me to going inside the house and watching Nostalgia Critic reviews or something. I mean, the only character I found the least bit funny was Dale, and that was because he seemed to be the most outrageous of all the characters. Add these problems to the dull animation with incredibly drab backgrounds, and we have what is in my humble opinion, a boring show.

Hmmm...well, I guess you guys can officially label me the sociopath who gets off on brutal execution scenes of pedos by masked gingers. Shame, I had such potential. ;)

Overrated means that lots of people like it and hype it up to be something it's not. Yet again you haven't said why you think it's overrated, you just explained in more detail why you don't like it.

Fine. I initially chose the wrong word, so I'll attempt to recant on my previous heinous moral error.

In my opinion, King of the Hill is not a very good show.

There, I hope all is well in the land of Oz.

Yeah I don't really like it either. I think that there are way too many animated shows that rely solely on the stupidity of the protagonists. I also think that this is part of what made Daria and South Park awesome.

Daria is pretty much a weak attempt at trying to be overly cynical and it seems half the demographic it was aimed toward didn't even get it. South Park, on the other hand, succeeded very well at what it was initially about: four boys with potty mouths. I used to be obsessed with the show 10 years ago, but now it has essentially become this elaborate socio-political message-fest that has increasingly become less and less about the characters and more about what is happening in the news.

I actually enjoy it more that way.

Much more.

same, the show has definitely gotten better. it is still very much four boys with potty mouths, and their wacky adventures, however like any tv show, they take on real life and current events as well, and show how silly those events are.

So I was browsing Wikipedia after hearing about Dennis Hopper, and I saw this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Osterm ... %28film%29
Anyone seen it?
Speculation: Moore might've... the titular character is called Bernard Osterman...
Edit: I see I'm not the first to make this suggestion...

They sure weren't joking... :P

And for the record: South Park is better now than before.

I was probably a bit overhasty in suggesting most of the newer episodes suck. Many of them are really funny, it's just that I don't care for the blatant political messages they shove in my face at times, whether I agree with them or not.

For instance, a few of my favorite "newer" episodes (I'll count 2002+ as newer) were the ones revolving around the Asses of Fire 2 trailer, Awesome-O, all the Professor Chaos eps, Super Fun World, Mysterion, LoTR, Pandemic, and WoW. You know why? They focus primarily on the main characters. Comedy is the direct basis, and the social/political allegories (if any) take a backseat. For instance, I hated the Tiger Woods episode, the 9/11 conspiracy episode, and the goobacks episode (About Last Night was actually really funny, though). Basically, if I want political humor, I'll wait an hour for Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to deliver it correctly.

But that's just me.

i don't mind the SP political episodes, since they generally avoid taking sides (or if they do it's generally the "against everyone" side) and merely just show us a satirical version of the situation those eps you listed that you like are all great, but i also like the political and satirical ones too.

Picked up a dirt cheap copy of Hard Wired just to see what they did to the WATCHMEN New York street set. Haven't watched the movie yet, but checked out the "making of" and there's a lot of footage of them working on the set. They even mention in the interviews that they are using the WATCHMEN set.

File this under trivia.

Those of you who've been following my blog will know that in recognition of my coming birthday, I've recently been using it to list seven movies that changed my life. Naturally, Watchmen made the list. In fact, I had so many stories to tell and so many thoughts to put down that I had to make a two-parter of it.

This one is about WCM.Com.

This one is about the movie itself.

Enjoy!
