I wouldn't doubt young Snyder having a cameo role in there somewhere.

While on the set of The Killing, I bumped into the guy who played Abraham Zapruder in the opening credits of WATCHMEN, filming the assassination but missing the Comedian's involvement ;). I recognized him from his picture in the portraits book.

He told me about meeting Zack Snyder (he said Snyder was a very nice guy) and that they'd filmed the scene out at the local amusement park: the PNE. He went on to say that the whole thing was blue-screened. The limo was actually traveling on a dirt road and both he and Jeffery Dean Morgan were up on rickety platforms standing in for the grassy knoll. Dallas was added later. Amazing! I'm usually extremely good at spotting CGI, but this one fooled me. I thought they had found a location similar enough to get away with it.

He also said that the Comedian was one of two shooters on the grassy knoll so one of them got cut.

Also, he said that the shot Zack wanted was to have the camera slowly zoom in to the back of Zapruder's head, then swing around so we can see him shooting the motorcade, then pan across to the Comedian. Sounds like it would have been a great shot, but they were unable to get it after a few tries and had to move on.

Not thread-worthy, but interesting.

Damon Quote-on-the-back-of-your-Watchmen-copy Lindelof is also a fan of the movie.

Quote:
[Zack Snyder is] one of the few people that I have met who is more religious about "Watchmen" than I am. Whatever you want to say about that movie, I for one was a fan and I really respect what it took for that guy to get that very loyal version of the movie made.

Finally got a can of Nite Owl coffee to add to my WATCHMEN collection! Thank you ebay! The coffee was packed in 2009 so I don't know if it's still drinkable.

Yup, getting a nice little WATCHMEN collection going here. Now if I could just nab one of those press kits...

if it's sealed it'll probably be fine, but why would you want to open it if it was sealed? if it's not sealed i'm sure it wouldn't hurt to try some, if it tastes like crap then you know not to drink it again :D

My wife is a java hound! No way she's letting coffee sit there. I'm not a coffee drinker myself but will try a cup with her just so I can say I did.

I don't mind using the java. It's the can I wanted.

Big fire out at the WATCHMEN set today. The New York street. Luckily the set itself is undamaged (so far) but some of the equipment sheds have gone up in flames. I know Supernatural has been using the set and there are probably other companies using it, but that won't be for awhile as the fire is quite large.

Well, the set has been repainted/remodeled a number of times. The Viet Nam bar is now remodeled as a bar used a lot in Supernatural. Most of the building fronts have been repainted. But you can still see the remains of "Fire Lane" on the street where Nite Owl and the Comedian talk about the American Dream.

Just thought folks might want to know.

Sweet. I know at least two people who are going to be intrigued by that if they don't know already.

Hey All,

Have you seen the ad for Buble's new Christmas album. Can't say for sure, but he's a local BC boy and he's prancing around some dimly-lit brownstone steps.

I'm thinking these are the brownstones on the WATCHMEN set! Watching the ad, I see that they only shows the steps and the front doors and the very dark lighting all around would be a good way to cover the fact that they sit in an empty parking lot.

So until I hear different, I'm thinking Buble is going to be keeping Dan and the neighbors up with all that singing.

And I'm going to wonder why Rorschach isn't choking a bitch.

As Easter is approaching I thought I'd give folks a heads up on an upcoming story I did for a hardboiled anthology.

The story features Rick Ruby, a 30s private eye in New York and it'll be the lead off story in The Ruby Files coming in March from Airship 27. End plug.

While writing the tale I couldn't resist dropping in a bushel of easter eggs for the canny to hunt for. And there is a whack of eggs from a certain graphic novel we cherish.

Something for the curious to ponder...
