My copy that was purchased over the summer has been in the hands of 3 people I know so far. Not a single one hasn't loved it, and I really gotta get it back for myself soon as I still haven't gotten a second read out of it.

So far I've gotten three people to read it though one of them just skimmed through it and "didn't like it much" so I don't think I'll count that one. One of my friends is reading it right now and I have a list of at least two other people waiting to read it. I am also buying a copy for BookCrossing which should introduce it to some strangers.

So far...I've introduced 2 people to the movie trailer and they say it looks intriguing.

But more importantly, I've introduced and have gotten 2 people to read the GN all the way through. My best friend asked for it and I gave it to him before headed off to college. He enjoyed it a lot and is looking forward to the movie.

The other person...

...My Mother. She read a preview of it in Entertainment Weekly and was intrigued. I gave her the book to read and she finished it up quickly enough. She liked it a lot.

So far I introduced 9 people to the GN. 8 of them really loved it, one didn't. But I gave him some serious whoopin' after that :)

So you can now raise my count to 4. I have 2 lady friends who love reading and saw The Dark Knight so hence, they saw the trailer. One in particular, I've been showing the last couple of trailers and I could tell she'd be interested in reading it. Both will be getting the GN as X-Mas gifts from moi. (Along with The Road by Cormac McCarthy)

I figure it might be appropriate to resurrect this thread. With the holidays coming up, is anyone planning to give away copies of the GN as gifts?

Hehe - I've introduced the book to, I think, 3 people so far, and I'm trying to get my mom to read it (she doesn't have much free time, unfortunately). I'm also getting the new hardcover copy for my aunt (book collector of sorts - used to own a bookstore), because I once showed her the GN, and she loved the first chapter

A couple of other friends are interested in the movie, and are thinking about reading the GN as well

At the party I mentioned a while back, there were three people who very much wanted the copy that I brought. One of them walked away with it.

As I type this, there's another copy of the Watchmen TPB sitting on my desk, waiting for a Christmas delivery to a good friend of mine (my "other sister," I like to call her).

Only this month I have introduced Watchmen to, at the very least, other 4 people. My father and 3 other friends of mine.
There are at least other 2 people or more to whom I have talked about the GN and now they want to read it/buy it.

The one who's available 24 hours a day to answer questions on Twilight!! It'll be interesting to hear her take on Watchmen...

Recently, a friend of mine has expressed interest in reading it before the movie comes out when he has the time, so I think I'll lend him my copy.

I lent it to a mate a month ago. Then we had a fight and stopped talking and he's still got my book. Urgh.

My best friend purchased WATCHMEN after hearing so much about it from me and, get this, my mother read my copy and enjoyed it. I also purchased a copy to give to my brother-in-law as a Christmas gift. He mentioned the movie to my sister so I figure he might be interested in reading it.

That’s my scout’s deed for the day.

My wife is going to start reading Watchmen after she finishes another novel, though that doesn't necessarily count yet, does it? lol

My friends aren't into comics, but two of them will be going to watch the film when it releases. They tell me they regret not reading it now, so maybe they will before March.

[NOTE: This post started its own thread before I merged it here. Seemed like a good place for it, given the post's contents. --"Curiosity Inc."]

I've been chatting and emailing some folks about Watchmen , the upcoming movie etc. Some have never picked up a graphic novel and many have recieived the book or "Watching the Watchmen" as a holiday gift. Apparently Rolling Stone and some other hip trendy rags have have made Watchmen a must have for 2009.

Anyway in these "watchmen 101" classes, I tell them that Moore tells you who killed the comedian in the first twenty pages. They always ask where?

When Adrian says to Rorschach "Have a Nice Day." which was the slogan tied to the yellow smiley faces back in the 1970's. Their response is to look at me like I just teleported from mars (lol)

Is it just us? I'd like to hear your responses better yet , your stories about sharing watchmen with your non sci fi/comic book friends

i have a story for you and it is kind of short but here it is. I was all hyped to go see the dark knight at midnight with my brother and three of his freinds and the whole time that day i was saying i dont know if im more happy to see the movie or the trailer for Watchmen. They would say what the hell is that. And when the trailer came on i let out a ultra nerd scream at the end. pretty much creaming my pants. And they all looked at me and said it looks stupid why go see that crap. But i got them all to read it and now they are saying it will be the best comicbook movie ever.
Wat the hech.

Introduced it to my girlfriend, my dad, and my sister.

Girlfriend liked it, but not nearly as much as I do. She's had to put up with my nerdgasming over the film coming out for almost a year now, bless her soul... ;)

Dad trudged through it begrudgingly, and didn't like it.

Sister adored it, and spends many an hour discussing the GN with me. She keeps getting her mind blown every time I point out a hidden smiley or a character link/easter egg. :D

I try to convince everyone I know to read Watchmen....I've succeeded most of the time. :D
