We know about the hidden "smiley faces" that are plastered throughout the comic, but what about all of the other little visual tidbits? Let's start a list of "ooh, I didn't see that before"' stuff.

I just found one the other day. In the botton left panel of page 24, Chapter 1, we're in one of Rorschach's journal entries. Its the "Soon there will be war. Millions will perish" panel. Sticking out of the garbage can on the left is a copy of the Black Freighter comic. Neat.

On page 4 of Chapter 1, a woman with her daughter shoots an untrusting glance at a knot top.

On page 20 of Chapter II, a man with a Hitler mustache is "hailing" a cab.

On page 25 of Chapter II, a man can be seen in his car outside a strip club with a wad of bills in his hand.

When Laurie leaves Jon, she takes a cab, and Joey is the driver.

In one of Molochs clubs, he has a large painting of naked woman with horns/tails, poking pitchforks at some naked men.

Those are just some of the ones I can think of.

Jon's final "appearance" is covered by a phallus substitute in the centre of Adrian's orrery.

Laurie's face is constantly being reflected in circles. From the cup of coffee she has at Dan's place to the snow globe from when she was a kid to the bottle of Nostalgia just before she throws it on Mars... just as she realizes that the Comedian is her father. The Comedian, of course, symbolized by the ultimate face in a circle. A face where the eye/vision is obscured by a "bloodline" of sorts.

Laurie spends a lot of time looking at reflections of herself, but not seeing herself directly until she throws the Nostalgia... which not only breaks when it hits Jon's clockwork palace, but also shatters that palace... that is, the symbol of her worldview shatters and is shattered by the symbol of his worldview. And both are changed.

In chapter 1, page 10, frame 8, Rorschach is eating Baked Beans from a Heinz can with a "58" instead of the usual "57 varieties".

I just found another one, and I doubt too many people have noticed it (or maybe they have, what do I know?). On the bottom left pannel of page 31, of the last chapter, we see Seymours feet walking to Pioneer Publishing (wearing Veidts brand of sneakers of course). But look closely, and you will see just under the word Pioneer, their logo, which is a "PP" with the first P backwards. It looks like Rorschachs logo.

Like "Rum Runners" logo too. The double "R" (or in this case, similar double "P") is a constant. Notice the joke about RR running for president, a cowboy actor, according to the publishing director words (Robert Redford, not Ronald Reagan) :)

Shouldn't something in print be called something besides an easter egg?

Easter eggs were more DVDs I thought.

The term "easter egg" can apply to anything that is hidden in a work and can be found by those who look closely enough. Hence the name.

For example, there's one near the start of Chapter XII (I don't have the book with me, sorry). When Dr. Manhattan and Laurie teleport out of New York, their poses oddly mirror the Hiroshima lovers two panels later.

Chapter 1, page 25, panel one.....there's a board on top of the strip joint. Enola Gay and the Little Boys.

Enola Gay is the B-29 Superfortress bomber that dropped "Little Boy", the first atomic bomb ever used in war, when the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) attacked Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945, just before the end of World War II.

BTW, Enola Gay's pilot (and son!!), Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr, died at 92 very recently.

If you notice the skylines in watchmen, you'll always see a blimp, always!

only in chapt 12, page 2, top left hand corner, you'll see the blimp crashed.

according to vynson (replied to me in another forum), he said the blimps are reminders of the atomic bombs in the skies.

*poke* ok, this thread is still breathing.

wanna add something, in chapter 1, page 1, when you see the vagrant walking over the blood some guy is cleaning, you can see he's pissed off and showing a finger at the vagrant.

pretty cool eh?

Are you planning on reading Watchmen at all before the movie comes out, or hanging on 'til afterward?
