On another topic, I proposed that in Watchmen , the graphic novel , some of Laurie's bitterness and cynicism may very well have come from her years and experiences as Silk Spectre II .. But was some of it Moore's/Gibbons foreshadowing that she was the Comedian's daughter ?

Of course the crescendo for this particular sublplot comes in the final chapter where Laurie points a pistol at Veidt and with masscara in place of a scar , tells Adrian he's an asshole.

Are there other instances where Blake and Laurie show similarities?

as for me , when I first read watchmen it didn't occur to me that they were father and daughter until Laurie's recount of the Crimebuster's meeting, when they shown standing beside each other.

Well, they are the only two characters in the entire story who share the exact same hair colour, something of a clue with regard to common genetics.

If Laurie had been a proper Daddy's Girl, she'd have emptied the entire gun into Veidt!

I agree, I think she has some of her father's manners.

Yeah. Just look at how she treated the tenement fire victims.

Oh, you know. "Listen, I'm Smokey the Bear's secret mistress, now get on the airship!" and all that.

Personally, I think that the treatment was warranted in this case, so the relevance of this point is suspect.

They also like scotch, replace their yellow costumes with leather ones, think Jon's crazy, beat up rioters, and smoke.

They both are "straight-shooters" when it comes to telling it like it is and now that I think about it, they both aggressively threw themselves at someone (similar sex drive perhaps?). The only difference was that Dan accepted her sexual advances on the couch (well as much as he could anyway), while Sally rejected Blake.

Goddamit, I did not know that. That's a pretty clever sign there they input into the art...

...I need to read this book again. :geek:

Nice observation! This is actually a topic I've never actually given much thought to, but now that I think back she is a perfect blend of Sally and Blake. Sorry I really don't have anything else to contribute.

I still think it would have been awesome if he hadn't caught the bullet. She would not only be avenging three million New Yorkers, but her father as well.

Laurie's yellow costume bears resemblance to Blake's Minutemen getup. At the end of the novel she mentions wanting to wear a mask, protective armour (possibly leather), and have a gun. Always liked that part.

It really seems more like Sally's one if you're going on the colours.

... and.. they.. uh... they smoke.

We can see that her mother is very afraid of Laurie lookin like Ed always, I think that's one of the reasons she is so protective.
