Many posters astutely noted in the Easter Eggs thread that Rorschach's mask takes the same pattern for similar circumstances. I thought it would be cool to see the panels, and invite all to come up with any other examples.

The surprised/shocked face:

V.25.5 Finds Moloch dead

VI.20.7 Sees dogs eating Blair Roche's bone

Not exactly sure what emotion it's supposed to represent, but...

I consider that one 'The End is Nigh'. That image has been dubbed the 'Hiroshima Lovers' an image Rorschach related to the memory of his mother when he was a boy. His life was flashing before his eyes under that mask when that pattern showed up. He knew he was going to die.

........Wow. Now I'm really touched by that picture O_O connecting it to Dan and Laurie, and to Rorschach meeting his sad death.

I'd call that the "Lover's face" because it also represents the silhouette of other lovers:

VI.24.4

Tell me that isn't the most sadistic "smile/face" Rorschach ever had.

Also, VI.18.4 has always been a panel I've quietly chuckled about to myself. I've always interpreted it as an "irritated" face for Rorschach, what with the "furrowed eyebrows" and "eyes". Especially when paired up with "Bad neighborhood. Smelled of damp plaster and stained mattresses."

But it's decidedly different from his "smile" seen in the Owlship.

This looks more like disgusted sneering to me.

I never noticed that the "face of armageddon" is used twice. That's really cool.

I like the Hiroshima lovers' explanation. I always attributed that face to have something to do with Dan and Laurie specifically, but I forgot how many times it actually appears in the book.

This one is probably my favorite of his "faces", mostly because it is the most complex (i.e. contains more shapes).

I might be reaching here, but I always thought that this particular Rorschach face subtly resembled the patterns on a tiger's face. It makes sense here, as Rorschach, on the hunt, has successfully snuck up on his prey, Moloch.

The title of this issue, right underneath the panel here, is "Fearful Symmetry," and the first words of this issue's poem is "Tyger, Tyger, burning bright."

It is no coincidence.
