When i first picked up my copy of Watchmen, i got the old release of the broken window with smiley falling. (1987?) I am at the bookstore and i see the newer release with the blood smear. Except you can tell these were JUST printed. They felt heavier and screamed of Lexmark printers. I venerated my copy (old) but these new ones look and feel like they are allowed to be tossed carelessly around and ruined. Also, the new books have been re-inked and re-draw to fix mistakes. Do you like this idea? I like my old copy only because it has the mistakes and was prined the way the singles were. The new books are look very homogenized... ( especially when there are 10 stacked in a row.) Agree disagree? Am i crazy?
Oh and i dont know if this has been brought up before so forgive me if it has.

I have the old book (same one you have, I think. I didn't buy it in 1987 as I was a little moppet but it has 1987 as the date and the cover you describe) and it's a nice book. Good quality and has aged well. I have to admit I have yet to pick up and handle a copy of the new one. I like the new cover but I didn't know there was a difference apart from that.

Do you know what kind of corrections have been made?

I have one of those new ones. I'm a new fan and don't have the older books. My husband, however, read them as they came out, or at least a few of them. He has an original one, but not all 12, unfortunately. He's got the one with the Navel Gazing on Mars. Let's see in 86-87 he would have been about 15 or so. I asked him if he understood the depth of the story at 15 and he said yes.

Anyway, we have an essential guide to Watchmen somewhere, but I'm not sure the date. I have one, as I said before, that was a recent printing and I've loaned it out. I'm figuring I'll never get it back, it's been out a month now. So anyway, I've never seen the originals so I don't know any differently if they changed the art or anything like that.

does the absolute edition have the smiley eye and bloodstain? or is that the picture of the six in poses? where comedian is clearly missing his badge.

i looked at both issues and saw know discernible difference. xD (i am sure there is one i just did not look hard enough)

My copy looks like this: [Soon to be more valuable because of age?

That's weird. My 2008 (2009?) Absolute Edition Reprint has the doomsday clock on both sides. Hurm. Misprint? Must remember to investigate further...

Sorry, I just had to say that.
