i knew this was gonna happen! i apologise. To quote "Jack" Durden: "I am addicted..."
but i'm not going for the higher rank - i want to be a part of as many of these conversations as i can and in a small forum you're bound to have posted in loads of the threads!
but i'll try to keep my posts relevant, yeah?

I was hoping to defuse any perceived harshness from my last post.

No harshness from my part either! I'm just happy I finally have people I can talk to about my favorite book! ;) peace

Okay, guys. Let's back off AYB.

Another great line was "I think it's Adrian." There were so many thoughts going through my head the first time I read that line.

Me too! After I read the book for the first time I thought of Adrian as a villain. It took me another read through before I actually understood his viewpoint. I knew his guilt and remorse. Adrian Veidt is a great character in a great book :)

I always liked this exchange between the newsvendor and Kovacs:

"How about you? I see the world didn't end yesterday."
"Are you sure?"

Also, the very first line of Rorschach's journal in panel #1:

"Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach."
That really set the tone for this series.

My favorite though, which has already been mentioned here, is:

"You know what I wish? I wish all the scum of the earth had one throat and I had my hands about it."
But that's actually a line from one of the promotional posters, isn't it(?).

"Joking, of course"

"But there are so much deserving of retribution...and there is so little time"

I'll write some more later when I have the book in front of me.

Moloch: "Y'know the kind of cancer you eventually get better from?"
Rorschach: "Yes?"
Moloch: "Well that ain't the kind of cancer I got".

Also

"A world grows up around me. Am I shaping it, or do its predetermined contours guide my hand?"

This line comes up a few times in this thread. I like it too. It has such a noir rhythm to it.

"Sure he was quiet, he was grim, but he still had all the buttons on his overcoat".

"'You're locked up in here with me', he said. He's right. Absolutely right"

"C'mon, man. We got a date. Let's go run some red lights".

oh that is an absolute must if they keep the burning scene where you see rorschach missing a button! an essential part, perfect for dvd!
see i think dvd's bringing films closer to comics...you can easily locate bits within films and compare....
of course its not as easy as in comics, but awesome all the same! man, i can't wait for this watchmen dvd!

"He stood up for his country, Veidt. Never let anyone retire him. Never cashed in on his reputation. Never set up a company selling posters and diet books and toy soldiers based on himself. Never became a prostitute. If that makes him a Nazi, you might as well call me a Nazi, too."

That line always stands out to me, and I'm not even entirely sure why.

Too many fantastic lines but my favs are :

I did it thirty five minutes ago.

It was Kovacs that closed his eyes, and Rorschach that opened them.

But Doctor, I am Pagliacci.....

The last is probably my fav :)
