Yup, I was about 10 or 11.

It's awesome you got into Watchmen so young, yet uncomfortably weird that a dude like Comedian could be a little girl crush. He is a charmer, that Eddie Blake...

That's horrible :P. No child should read that at that age, no matter what maturity level.

Hell, I know a few kids who need scaring straight.* And if that means hearing about foamy sex and murder, I think there's really only one option.

* What I mean is, they think they're SO GODDAMN HARDCORE and need to be slapped in the face with a particular brand of gritty realism.

I first read Watchmen in 7th grade... didn't really GET it until 9th.
Of course I love Rorschach, Comedian...
but I really love Dr. Manhattan.
Nite Owl is a great character as well.

Meh, around that age, I read and saw things on tv that were just as bad or worse with none of the substance. Of course I wouldn't recommend anyone reading it that young, but if you get your hands on a copy and enjoy it without being scarred in some way, good for you, I guess. Though you probably wouldn't really get into the story until you're a bit older. :)

I'd say the fat intern with the ketchup stained shirt at the end. Upon assuming Rorschach's journal and being told it's all in his hands, he essentially becomes the third generation of Watchmen. Everyone's cards are on the table. He makes the call, he becomes the only individual left with disproportionate power over society.

Favorite Character for all but the last 5 pages in the novel until he sells out to get laid. Even if he agreed with the plan he should have still killed Veidt for doing it...Dan Drieberg.
Favorite Character after finishing the book...Rorschach, I liked everything about him except for the fact that he didnt bathe.

Hey, buddy, you and I are probably some of the few who don't even need to explain who our fave character(s) are. Our usernames say it all. ;)

I'm a DanGirl.
I identified strongly with his need to feel like he still mattered. Up until this past year I was very much in the same place emotionally because of a lot of stuff I went through over the course of my life. Then I met someone who helped me find my wings again. (bird reference intentional)

Plus I love geeks. :D

[NOTE: Merged. --"Curiosity Inc."]

I am just now re-reading watchmen and I must say that my favorite characters are comedian and rorscahch because they accepted the truth and refused to hide it from the public. It got me thinking? Who are your favorite characters and why?

Rorschach. Do I really need to say more?

Someone's going to do it for me anyway, I'm sure.
